So I was investigating my problem with having some choppy framerates about 15 minutes into playing, so I decided it was a overheating problem. So I downloaded RMClock to check my temperature. It ranged around 41C, but what caught my attention was that my processor frequency was capped at 800MHz, and I've never seen it once jump to my 1.73 Ghz. Even when I restart my laptop, it never goes to 1.73 ever.

    I have a Compaq V4000T
    Intel(R) Pentium(R) M Processor 740 (1.73 GHz)
    128MB ATI MOBILITY(TM) RADEON(R) X700
    1.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x512MB)
80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive

Is there any reason why my processor is stuck at 800Mhz?

Is your notebook set to Home/Office Desk mode? Go into the Control Panel, Power Options, then set to Home/Office desk.

If that doesn't work, we'll try something else.

For some reason it was set on portable/laptop, and I thought I had changed that when I first bought it. Thanks a lot.

It should be in portable/laptop mode.

It shouldn't be stuck at 800mhz because even in that laptop mode it automatically dynamically switches your multiplier to jump up to your max clockspeed when needed.

    Strange.

I agree with Mike. There must be something else that forces the CPU to the lowest multiplier. If the change of the powermode resolves it - ok. If not, try NHC and its power modes. Just to see if it is something wrong with WIndows power modes.

    Cheers,
