I've never tried overclocking yet, and whether or not I even try will depend on this thread. I just want to know a few things before trying it.
Firstly, what is the proper way to overclock the 8800M GTX? (avoiding errors ranging from novice mistakes to big ass red no-no's.)
Do I even need to overclock it at this point?
Is it "safe" / what are the risks?
What are the advatanges and disadvantages to overclocking?
What are stable temperatures for overclocked units, specifically the 8800M GTX?

Any other info related to the thread title is also welcome.

I would really have to say no. I've two of 'em in Sli and the rip thru games.

Why not enjoy your laptop at current normal clock speeds and in a few years time when you need extra performance then OC. Moreover the laptop won't be new then and if you do damage it / shorten its life span, its not that big a deal.

I've only got one but I do agree with you. I haven't had problems playing games on high - max settings yet.

I am still curious about my other questions though. If anyone feels like answering. :D

Well, I realize this and like I said I've never had any problems with it yet. Thanks for the responses but I have other questions as well. Curiosity != Execution.

    well if you insist.
rivatuner (doesn't work with all drivers) or BIOS flash (more difficult but stable)
if you think it's necessary to squeeze out extra 2-3 fps, go for it.
OC never safe, risks are you fried the card and AW won't fix it.
if you need a heater in summer, do it.
this goes for all GPUs: as long as it's below 90C, you are fine.
    learn to use google.

Thanks. I asked on NBR because I was pretty sure I'd get a more intelligent response over google. Personally, if the option is available, I like to ask people that might actually know what they're talking about. I take Google and Wiki with a grain a salt, as everyone should, unless the source's reputation is confirmable.
