Hi all, I need some serious help about Prototype 2.
It lags very bad and I heard many peoples have this issue, but I didn't find a fix.
I tried reinstalling but don't worked.
My PC specs are GT 740M, i3-3217U and 6 GB RAM.
Notebook's name is Acer Aspire E1-570G.
I'm pretty sure that my PC can handle in maxed 60FPS (well if not I can turn down some settings).
It's like it's locked to 25-30 FPS but it isn't.
When I move camera to place without objects it gets 50FPS.
So, is there a fix?

sure you are running it on Nvidia graphics ? to be sure right click and run with Nvidia GPU
-
Thanks for reply and yeah, I checked in NVIDIA Control Panel and it's running with NVIDIA GPU, not the slow Intel HD Graphics 4000.
-
Go to Nvidia Control Panel and put the Power management Setting to : MAX Perfs instead of Adaptative
-
Still not working.

When I played Prototype 2 with 7970M CrossfireX and an unlocked Ivy Bridge CPU at 4.1 GHz, there would occasionally be dips in frame rates. Seeing that a single GT 740M+low voltage CPU setup is but a fraction of that performance, I highly doubt that you should expect 60 FPS on max graphics settings.
What you can try would be to dial the settings down, perhaps all the way, and see if the FPS improves significantly. If it does, you just need to find the right trade-off between eye candy and performance. If the FPS doesn't improve, there are likely power setting/throttling issues at hand. -
I tried lowering ALL settings, totally same FPS i get on max and lowest.
There HAS to be a fix, that's impossible that there isn't a fix. -
If all the settings you can change only affect GPU load, then this might imply a CPU-bound situation. It could be helpful to monitor your real-time GPU/CPU clocks/load percentages (using on-screen display in MSI Afterburner, for example) and report back.
A low voltage CPU might stay at severely throttled multipliers when under prolonged load. In such a case ThrottleStop could help you prevent throttling to some extent. -
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that laptop is below minimum system requirements. Have you tried lowering the resolution too?

Yeah, everything.
But this isn't because my specs, I've seen a guy with GTX videocard having this issue. -
If it's a game-specific issue you might need to consult the literature around the time the game was released. I don't remember what I did, if anything, to make the game run better.. But before we draw any conclusions, let's hear those clocks.
-
sponge_gto I used MSI Afterburner and maded on-screen things and my core's are working at 50% (3 core's with 50% and 1 with 60%). Is that the problem? The CPU isn't working fully???

The difference is that his CPU has a max speed of 1.8GHz on a single-threaded game... in addition to being power limited. -
THIS is my new laptop.
I know that my laptop have bad CPU, but if I choose a laptop with better CPU (yeah, that sucks, but that's the place from where I have to get things like that in Bulgaria, see www.technopolis.bg or www.tetchnomarket.bg for more info), I'll get only the slow Intel HD Graphics videocard (mine have it, but + GT 740M).
But come on guys, this can't be because my specs, other guys with even GTX videocard have that problem...
And 1 more thing, yesterday I installed Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Phantoms from Steam, and it's FPS is just annoying.
I've played it before, but got boring because I was noob (yeah, don't laugh now, everyone was a noob).
Before I was getting 50-55 FPS on High settings, but now just 30 FPS and sometimes it goes to 50 FPS but after 2, 3 seconds it goes to 30 again.
It's like it have 30 FPS VSync.
Any fixes for Prototype 2 and GRP?? -
Try this, it might help: http://steamcommunity.com/app/115320/discussions/0/864950841116414156/

Not working

Yeah, GT 740M drivers are latest (beta).
But how do I use ThrottleStop? -
And does it can to make damage?
Know that I am always when using laptop with power cable on, not because my battery is goner, some say if it is always on the battery won't die.
Is that true? -
What version? 347.88/347.90 are the latest ones.. Don't use the Acer NVIDIA drivers... Throttlestop won't damage battery however it will make it last for less time as you'll be drain it quicker with processor at higher speed.. You can turn it off when not gaming so not a problem... See below link for throttlestop
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/the-throttlestop-guide.531329/
NVIDIA 347.88 driver: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/download/driverResults.aspx/83148/en-uk
This link is for 64 bit Windows 7/8.1... If you have 32 bit, go to nvidia website and select that... (32 bit OS is there if you have less then 4GB RAM)... -
I have 347.88, tried running GeForce Experience to see if there's an update of it, but no.
I have also Windows 7 64-bit 6GB RAM.
And... I am stressed to use ThrottleStop because if it damage my PC I won't have another one (I am not so rich so you know...), so is there another thing? -
What the hell... I saw a forum where a guy says that if I enter game and alt+tab out and go to Task Manager and Set Affinity on Prototype 2 and disable all cores but leave Core 0 the game won't lag.
But the problem is now I tried doing this but when start game an error pop up 'The program can't start because binkw32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem' and 'ERROR: Could not load DLL 'prototype2engine.dll'.
I found binkw32.dll from internet and put it in the folder of game but then another error pop up for that maybe the file isn't compatible with the game. How the hell did that file just disapeared from there???
And is there a place from where I can get it and place in in the folder to don't reinstall the game again??? -
First search your C: drive and your Prototype 2 folder (if not on C) for the binkw32.dll file, it may be elsewhere, and copy/paste it into the prototype 2 folder it's asking for.
If you can get access to an external monitor, then plug it in, set your desktop to span, and then you can go to desktop without minimizing the game window, and set affinity that way.
Also, I'm not accusing you of anything, but that error is typical of pirated copies of games that use that file.
What resolution and detail are you running? Try running at 720p lowest detail and check for performance.
And lastly, those 15W TDP CPU's throttle like crazy. The Alienware 13 uses a 15W TDP chip, but they unlock it so it doesn't throttle, but it still isn't appropriate to drive most games. -
I don't find any binkw32.dll file.
I have laptop and I don't have another monitor.
I run it on max with 25FPS and on lowest with resolution too 30FPS.
And I don't understand last thing.
I'm not with these things, I'm more in gaming. -
-
HTWingNut likes this.
-
That's what I hate about TDP. Temps can be well under control, but if TDP is exceeded the CPU throttles when there's still adequate headroom. AMD is doing this now too. I'm OK if they want to rate their TDP as such, but please let them be manually increased/adjusted by the users if they are so inclined or offer an unlocked version in addition for a few bucks more. -
-
Unpark the CPU's and turn on V-Sync. Also install Windows 8.1 for faster FPS. Window 7 is crap for gaming.
-
WAT
Do you even know what you're talking about? -
-
-
-
Umm... I'm not english guy, so what means unpark?
I checked with Google Translate and nothing come up :3 -
I don't mess up with my PC.
-
No risk, no fun.
-
Lol.
-
-
Prototype 1 ran like crap unless you disdabled HID in Devices in Control Panel. I'm not sure if the second one has the same problem or not though.
-
-
-
-
-
Yeah, I used before MSI Afterburner, but too big space of the screen it gets, so I'll use HWiNFO.
-
You don't need to overlay the display, but still record values and can toggle it on and off.
