I have prototype for PC, but I have an issue with volume. It's *REALLY* low. I have surround sound w/ matrix hooked up to my beast, and I have my beast volume up full, my surround sound like 75% of the way up, and I can still barely hear things. This also causes issues whenever something else makes a sound (say an MSN convo) it's loud enough to blow my eardrums! Anyone got any suggestions on boosting the sounds to make them work at a better level with other programs?

yep, i turned everything to max, including PC volume to 100 and it's still not as loud as other games at 40. you could try a headphone, it works for me. the volume about 5 times louder. also you should not open any other programs cuz it probably will make your ears bleed.

I had problems originally as well, this game has some odd support for audio... I know you don't like the idea of this, but turn down the quality (frequency) of your output under sound options and see if that doesn't help the problem some

Thanks for the replies, at least I know I'm not the only one. I read the post over at the activision forums and changed it to what they recommended (I think it was 44100Hz 24-bit) and it's a BIT better, but still not much.

Another issue is that the louder I turn up my surround sound, the more 'buzzing' there is in the background, due to interference from my HDD, so I try to minimise turning it up as much as possible.

If anyone finds any other fixes keep us posted!

Hmm not too bad for me, maybe because my sound card?

I have only played it on my desktop and its hooked to an amp, 5% volume is loud enough for most games, so I have no problems getting this one loud.

I can see with a laptops limited sound output though how this may be a problem.

I may ask a friend to see if he can hack the games config files to make it louder.

Would be great if you could Vicious, I'm not the only one with this issue, I've found hundreds of similar posts over the interwebs, yet no real fix.

Same here. Its better on my desktop since I can crank it much louder than my laptop could ever go.

Get an X-fi notebook card. Haven't tried it with Prototype, but that sucker is LOUD even at lowest setting. Don't use it normally now because it is so loud.

Yeh ive got the same problem, and when i try to use the touch controls to increase the volume, the laptop goes into the clicky fit with the volume jumping up and down while making the click noise.

I will try it later with X-fi notebook card.
I doubt that i will have higher volume. we need a patch to fix this and some performance improvement even thought the game is stable.

The subtitle was a good idea, I think I will do that.

I turn it up when its a cut scene and then when its over the real game is way too loud, upsets other people in the house.

I have always used subtitles so have never noticed the low sound in the cutscenes because of this I guess. I do have to have higher sound in general for this game than other ones though.

When I get hold of the X-fi notebook card, I will also try this.
