Punkbutser help with COD5 beta

Ok I updated punkbuster manually and still I get kicked out in 15 sec. I tried updating like 8 times now. I allowed cod5 through my firewall. I have no problems with cod4 and puckbuster why i'm I having problems with it on cod5? Man I hate punkbuster so much! What should I do?

Whats the error message? Update punkbuster (manually)? That usually works for me.

 

thats what it says to in the game when I get kicked out i updtaed punkbuster but when I go to add cod5 on punkbuster it give me a message that the game path is not correct. Why is my game path not correct how do i even figure out where the game path is?

 

ok this is the error i get PB INIT failure but I cant update cod5 becuase I cant figure out the game path!

 

manually enter the path. for some reason it detects it as a steam version of the game.

 

You have to update manually. By that I mean, go to punkbuster website and choose the Call of Duty World at War and NOT COD5 (there isn't such a thing there). Then choose software updates: download. From there you can download five files for windows (pbsec.htm, pbsecsv.htm, wc002080.htm, wa001403.htm, pbsvnew.dll). Copy them and paste them directly to the pb subfolder of the Call of Duty world at war Beta folder and that is all. You don't need to use the Punkbuster updater (I think that's the one you use and you pick the COD5 which different to the beta). I hope that helps.

Yes, you can play COD4 and COD5 nearly at maximum but the Crysis would go at medium settings. It also depends what resolution you play.

 

I cant find the subfolder. Its no where in the cod5 folder. I'm confused where would it be at?

Go here and download the windows one. Extract is and run it. Add COD:5 (from drop down list) and check for updates and it should update.

Sorry can't guide you through it exactly (on my mac and too lazy to boot up windows/vmware). Tell me how it goes...

 

i have already tried that! I posted it earlier when i drop down the list select cod5 and it says my gamepath is not correct.. When I click update it says no update is required. Where do i make the gamepath to and how do i know its correct?

Did you try putting the path (under browse) "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War Beta\pb"?

If that doesn't work try deleting the dll files in that folder and try updating again. (Oh you might want to make a copy of those before you delete them just incase).

 

got it to work I uninstalled punkbuster and reinstalled and it now lets me update cod5.

 

Sorry but my installation is on Call of Duty - World at War Beta folder in the Activision folder along with the Call of Duty - Modern Warfare. There has to be pb folder for the punkbuster. But I guess you said that you updated punkbuster now by re-installing it, so can you play now?

EDIT: I have to ask something very stupid but when you say that you cannot find the pb folder in the COD5 folder, do you actually have a folder named COD5 or like my folder? If you are looking for the pb folder with the windows explorer and you can't find it I suggest to install the demo again. Without punkbuster you can't play the multiplayer demo. Probably in the installation you chose not to install the punkbuster as you thought you have it from another game.

Is it just me or does punkbuster always kick players for stupid reasons, but it never kicks the actual hackers. I thought VAC was bad until I met my friend punkbuster. Only idiot hackers get caught. Even the latest pub hacks bypass punkbuster. All the idiots have to do is keep downloading the latest release.

next problem with COD5

worked fine up until yesterday when i had to have a re install.
now when i try and load it im getting an error message:
d3dx9_37.dll was not found.
its to do with direct x9
im updated to the latest bios and drivers.

any ideas?
