I just got done with finals and since summers kicking at my door already i thought I'd plunge myself into something fun before work starts all over again.

Heres what I arrived at: I love shooting, I love strategy games and I love RPG games. Bioshock is an rpg shooter why World in conflict is a shooting strategy game, Any suggestions?

I would personnaly go for World in Conflict. I've had it since it came out and I am still enjoying the online gameplay, which I play nearly every day.

I'd second the call for World In Conflict.

With a pretty decent story as well as amazing/realistic graphics the single player is quite nice.

That combined with an entertaining multiplayer that gives you a choice of playing a chopper fiend, armor, pegging targets across the map as heavy arty or commanding ground troops, having them hide in trees in wait as you try to carry out an ambush. If you decide to hide in the trees though I'd suggest moving often unless your location's unknown, otherwise you've to worry about someone calling in air support wielding napalm.

I'd vote for Bioshock. It is a great game, only a bit short (you could play it in about 10-12 hours). If you want to play longer, buy World in Conflict.

And if you can't make the decision, buy them (like I did) both, they are both great games.

id say WiC, though i havent played it it does look really good and i have played BioShock and it got really boring, though the graphics are nice and the atmosphere is great the enemies just feel to similar and it jsyt feels like you are fighting the same monsters over and over, though The Big Daddy's are cool

but if you like RPG i would also take a look at TES: Oblivion, its great and will give you hundreds of hours of gameplay and with the mods that can be extended, i had it on 360 and even without the extra mods or content packs i managed well over 100 hours in the game, its just so vast and there is always something to do

when i get my new laptop that is the first game im getting, and i cant wait to try some of the very cool looking mdos out there :D

I've gotta say Bioshock. The story and production is as good as I have ever seen. Very immersive.

I only played the beta for WiC, and I thought it was just ok. However, to be honest, I have read that the beta experience was not a reasonable representation of the released game.

I bought World in Conflict, played it once, and to tell you the truth, after playing C&C3, that game is just crap. Honestly, it's crap. The DVD is now in my "crap games" list which is collecting dust on a shelf somewhere.

I also have Bioshock, and yeah, that's a cool game. Buy that one if you can choose. If you really want a nice RTS, go for C&C3.

    My 2 cents, at least...

Just out of curiosity, what makes you say C&C3 is better? I find the gameplay tooooooo easy in C&C3. It goes along the lines: Build an army, squash your opponent. No real thought required, whereas WiC at least makes you think how to use your chosen army. Team play is very important to succeed when playing World in Conflict online.

lol, C&C3 is fun but is no way as massive and as thrilling as WiC, i found C&C3 quite easy and its a good game but compared to WiC, its in a different league. :D

honestly go for WiC the multi will keep you going for hours. its way fun. the story is awesome also, you really feel for everyone you meet in the game.

but if u can get bioshock do get that too, awesome experience. 2007 was a great year of gaming :D

Well, never played WiC... but I say bioshock.

Great story... The art of Rapture is... well I can say I've never played a game with such an authentic city. Especially one that wasn't trying to copy a pre existing city. Superb job. Bit short and the last boss was kind of a let down.

Thats in the first third of the game.

I dunno, I thought the entire game was pretty engaging. Not as engaging as the first half of HL2... but WAY more so than the last half and episode 1.

You were. Splicers and Big Daddies.

    What did you want? Monsters?

The splicers change a lot through the game. They end up being pretty unique actually.

They did. A lot of the Splicers had different abilities. Basically anything you had, they could have. The worst were the teleporting guys that could throw fireballs at you.

There were several different skins as well.

    Bioshock

Maybe finish it and then you'll see there are many different kinds of splicers. Personally my favourite is the one that goes around singing "Jesus loves me this I know..."

Cracks me up every time :D

"Angels and Lollipops... Kill him Mr. Bubbles!!"

    lol...

man... The part that always freaks me out... At the beginning where you come upon the lady singing the lullaby to her gun. Jesus... Every time! The shadows on the tunnel and everything gave it such a spooky atmosphere.

WiC has much better replay value, but BioShock is a great game. Of course asking to choose between these two is like asking if you should order steak or sushi.

    BIOSHOCK

My fav game of all time, next to Deus EX, Half-life and Oblivion. It's so rich, beautifully detailed with impressive voiceacting and a fantastic storyline. I loved it - finished it 3 times on my Xbox360 and got all 1250 achievements.. just because I wanted to experience everything this game has to offer.

World in Conflict campaign is short even of hardest difficulty. WiC is only great for playing multiplayer.
Anyway, I would buy World in Conflict.

    P.S.
World in Conflict really NEED strong graphics. On my desktop 7600GS it is hardly playable even in 800x600 with lowest settings .

World in Conflict definetly! No doubt between those... That's my advice and you should buy Bioshock only if your laptop can't run WiC, otherwise there is no doubt absolutely... Good luck and make a good decision! :D

I found WIC boring and Bioshock a bit weird. You might definitely like BioShock though...

But you should be looking at Company of Heroes & Call od Duty 4 to be honest. Those are the best two pc games out there right now.

I've to second Andy's question: Why do you say Command & Conquer III's better than World In Conflict? I'm in no way saying you're right or wrong, just curious. I gave C&C3 a try and in all honesty it seemed more or less a beautified update of the rest of the series. From my perspective it didn't seem like any of the game's actual mechanics changed, and with that still the typical 'build base -> build troops -> move/rush troops -> kill -> rinse -> repeat' theme. It honestly didn't seem to me to really push the RTS standard any.

Granted, I may have been spoiled with things such as Supreme Commander, Rome Total War, and other such games but even with that it honestly seemed the latest C&C felt older than it should have.

The graphics look seriously outdated compared to WiC in my opinion. Don't knbow what the hype is the single player is good-story line wise, but multiplayer is just predictably boring.

Bioshock is an awful game. Not worth beating more than once. I found the "atmosphere" to be the games strongest point, but the story was lame.

Both games are very good. For some reason Bioshock seems to please many people and cause displeasure to the other (almost no middle point). Personally the game has a good 'personality' (atmosphere, themes used, etc.) and while the story is not marvelous it is well developed throughout the game. That being said, WiC has a very different approach from the standard RTS game, so it is worth looking for.

I think you're in the serious minority with that opinion of Bioshock. No it's not System Shock 2.. but it is very far from an awful game.

Edit: I think people hate it because they were expecting System Shock 3.
