The 7800 is alot better than the X1400, probably 3x more powerful.

The 7800go will be a pretty big leap over the x1400. These cards are in completely different catagories. The x1400 is considered a mid-range, while the 7800go is considered high-end. It all depends on what you are doing with your system though. If your a gamer, the upgrade would be a great investment. I will warn you though, there have been many users reporting that there cards are overheating. The 7800go tends to run very hot.

the 7800 is only slightly more powerful then the x1600 and 7600, and runs VERY hot. the 7900 is much more powerful, and can be overclocked like crazy. if you can find a 7900 i would really go for that.

I agree. Definitely try to get a go 7900 GS for the extra 3D gaming power and decreased power consumption.

No it doesn't. The 7800 produces *less* heat than the 6800, and *much* less than the equivalent X1800.
Sure, it's hotter than an x1600, but compared to the performance, it's a lot better performance/watt. That said, the 7900 definitely is a nicer card. ;)

Are you sure that it produces less heat then the X1800. I think that the X1800 has a TDp of about 35 Watts. I'm not too sure about the 7800 Go, but the 7800 GTX Go has a TDP of 65 Watts. Now, im not entirely sure on this, but it seems difficult that with reduced clock speeds on memory, Nvidia could get the TDp less than 35 Watts. If this information isn't correct, then please correct me.

It seems a little too good to be true. A 7800Go for $70... Buying after-market GPU's for a notebook just doesn't seem like a good idea to me, anyways.

I'm thinking that after the go 7900 GS came out, not many buyers wanted a go 7800. The go 7900 GS is more powerful, runs cooler, and uses less power.

Perhaps the go 7800 in question is a surplus that needs to be dumped.

EDIT: I do remember seeing a link somewhere in another post with a very cheap go 7800 as well.

I would also suggest going for the 7900. It is more powerful and produces a lot less heat. Most people that had the 9400 with the 7800 ended up spending countless hours on the phone with Dell trying to get them to replace their 7800s with a 7900GS cause the 7800 overheated their computers. But at that price, it's hard to ignore. You won't find a 7900GS at that price anywhere... legitimately.
