BWHXEON wanted my friend that has the Toshiba Qosmio F55 to run some testing using the built-in testing of DMC4 using 1280 x 720 2X AA. Here are the results for everyone to enjoy. I did not know if you wanted testing for either DirectX 9.0C or DirectX 10. So I did both of them![]()
Qosmio F55 using stock 2.0GHz CPU and 9700M GTS / Gateway P-6860FX X9000 @ 3.0GHz
1280 x 720 2X AA DirectX 9.0C all other settings set to Super High
Scene1: 80.26 / 72.53
Scene2: 52.88 / 46.27
Scene3: 101.25 / 99.05
Scene4: 53.00 / 47.07
The testing gave it a Grade B to both of them
Same as above but with DirectX 10
Scene1: 38.25 / 69.39
Scene2: 33.47 / 48.28
Scene3: 50.94 / 97.35
Scene4: 22.28 / 45.38
The testing gave it a Grade C / The testing gave it a Grade B
Now looking at this, it seems that the 9700M GTS is just as powerful as the 8800M GTS. It also seems that CPU power has an affect using DirectX 10 as it seems that it affects the F55 @ 2.0GHz than the P-6860FX @ 3.0GHz. Hope you all enjoy it. God Bless![]()
****** I forgot to mention that both laptops are running VISTA 64-Bit.

conclusion: dx10 blows
-
-
-
Ouch, almost ~50% performance hit just using DX10. I wouldn't automatically assume that DX10 slows everything down to a crawl though. In games such as Assassin's Creed and Crysis, DX10 has very minimal effect on the framerates.
I just ran the DMC4 benchmark on a Desktop with an 8800GTS, and I'm getting about 20% performance penalty. -
Sure, but it also has very minimal effect on graphics quality.
-
Sad but true. Let's hope DirectX 11 does better, considering one of its biggest promises was better utilization of multi-core processors.
-
yes you did!
Hmm DMC4 = new gaming benchmark tool? -
nah, I only asked for him to run it because, I needed to make sure the 9700m gts could handle it.
-
and at the bench, yes i was the one who posted it incase someone asksthe 9700GTS is quite a good card, i'm looking forward to see the results on a higher resolution, like 1440x900 with DX10.. that would be a D or something xD i still dont know why there is such a HUGE drop with DX10
-
Ok I just updated my post with results that I did using my Gateway P-6860FX, you will see it very interesting !!! As always enjoy and God Bless
-
Maybe it's a driver issue that causes DX10 to take such a toll on the 9700m GTS.
-
Could be the driver. Would be nice to see someone else with a Qosmio do the test to see what they get. God Bless -
The 9700M GTS performs better than the 8800M GTS at DMC4 on DX 9 and gets crushed on DX10. The 9700M GTS sees almost a 50% drop, but the 8800M GTS sees a very low drop, about 5% or less.
I'm downloading the DMC4 demo now and giving it a shot on my 8800M GTS/T9300. Will post results. -
I've got
90.94
59.47
119.86
59.21
Mix of higher and lower than you, but both of us are quite a bit higher than either the 9700M GTS or X9000/8800M GTS. How many processes do you have running in background?
I'm running 177.66 laptopvideo2go drivers, 32 bit Vista Home Premium.
A as well. Are you running Fraps? You might to leave it off to improve FPS. -
I forgot to put down that my friend with the Toshiba Qosmio F55 and I with the Gateway P-6860FX are both running VISTA 64-Bit. That may be the reason for the disparity with your results. God Bless.
-
i think so!!!! -
I am guessing here that running it on 64-bit mode really eats up a bunch of FPS, just like it lowers the 3DMark2006 score. Anyone else using 64-Bit run these in game tests to see what they get ??? God Bless
-
DX10 with all cards does that, the desktop 8800gt had a D with DX10 all super high at 1900x1200.
-
Can you try different driver and post results? -
What driver does everyone use or suggest for the 64-bit Vista ?? Thanks for any help and info. God Bless -

I'll need to update my drivers before running 64 bit. -
