Quad's COD:MW2 Tips, Tricks, and Tactics

Hey there guys,

I put together a short video with some tips/tricks on them. They aren't too intense--more geared towards newer players. I'll be posting more videos of tips/tricks soon. Let me know what you guys think! It's my first tips, tricks, and tactics video so I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks for the tips, I think the drop and pop will help alot.

and yes, Free For All is where it's at for leveling up.

personally, I find streaks hard to get on because of the random spawning behind me. any way to avoid that?

 

If you're really good and can stay alive, consider playing Search and Destroy. It's 500xp per kill.

 

Hmm, IIRC (in COD4/5 however) i thought that the enemies for the most part respawn in certain area's, usually away from where most people are... so maybe your in these areas?

same here.... but for me its usually just because i get killed.
...yeah im not the best Multiplayer COD gamer.

 

i recommend domination for ranking up. usually end up with 6-7k xp / match.

you get 150 points for a flag cap, 150 points for kills if you or your enemy is near the flag... on top of revenge bonuses, etc. plus- everyone is respawning instantly, and all the action migrates towards the flags.

i think domination is more fun than TDM for that reason, as well.

of course, i am already done leveling, and have no interest in prestige mode, so...

as far as your video, i agree with your tips, but would have liked to see some video demonstations. talk is cheap.

 

I might get around to making a video with included game footage. My K/D ratio lately has been around 2.8/1. It really helps when you get on a roll and get that chopper gunner in the air.

The best way to avoid it is to be in an area where you can't really get killed from behind as much. Like in a room facing outward so you back is against the wall. Don't camp in one spot though because they'll just nade you. You have to move around, but keep your back to the wall as much as possible. You can also use headphones to hear when people are coming up behind you (unless of course they have Ninja Pro which makes their footsteps silent.

 

also, if you play domination, it really distinguishes the high and low traffic areas.

you can lay down in the grass behind the fight for the flags and expect that no one will come looking for you, and that can really help with the kill streaks.

with DM (tdm, ffa, etc), the hunt is on across the entire map (there are still high traffic and low traffic zones, but everyone's primary motivation is to find and kill you - so with no waypoints to guide the action, you aren't that safe anywhere)

 

Dude advocating use of the m16 is not a tip, using the m16 does not make you any better, anyone can 1 burst someone. If you really want to be better at CoD don't use a 3 round burst weapon. Nice idea with the tips, but make sure they actually help the player.

 

Why not? The fact that anyone can do it is the kicker, if you become good with it you would be unstoppable, the point of the game is to win, therefore more effective killing is needed. As much as I hate noob tubes and those friggen 1887s, the point of the game is to get kills, and people are using what is given to them. No one is going to play by your rules.

 

m16 and ak-47 were the only 2 assault rifles used in MLG matches in CoD4 on the 360. m16 isn't always a 1 shot kill, and it actually does take skill to use it efficiently. most people just spray bursts all over the place until they hit something. granted i haven't played MW2 that much because it's worse imo than the 1st, it takes skill to use every single gun, and they are all in there for a reason.

 

Akimbo 1887's IMHO are the most noobish easy mode weapon in the game. An m16 takes more skill to use then the spray and pray fully auto assault rifles. Personally I use the FAL and M16 about the same since they require more control then all the other weapons in this class.

 

They nerfed the range of the dual 1887's earlier this week; they're much more under control now.

 

I was about to say I have seen some really stupid kill cams from people using them.

 

m16s take skill to kill, i love it because i practice my aiming alot more, i used to be scar and spray and pray,

even in CoD4 i loved using the P90. it was easy to spray and pray and easily the most used weapon.

 

no one uses the 1887's anymore. i haven't seen them all week. the nubetube still needs tweaking, somehow.

 

the noob tube isnt so bad, i definitely use it for skill, like if the guy is hiding in the corner and i know hes there but i cant shoot id definitely grenade launch him

 

Anything can be a tip if it helps a player and they didn't know the information beforehand. Most people don't know how effect the M16 can be. I'm just trying to let world know (kind of like spreading Christmas cheer, lol).

That's very interesting. I never heard what was used in MLG matches. It makes complete sense to me that the M16/AK would be the most used.

I've seen a couple people still owning with the models. Yes, the noob tubes still need liposuction on their explosive damage.

 

what? why? my M16 is easily my favorite weapon, and when I can aim, I don't lose the fight. ever.

My M16 + holographic + extended mags + stopping power + whatever = epic.

my other favs are my ACR and my AUG. AUG is just ridiculous.= with or without stopping power.

 

i think with the noobtube they need to reduce the blast radius. the model 1887's are already nerfed, so if you are seeing people playing with them, they either

1. don't know they are nerfed and are sucking
2. are *just that awesome* and want to use them for kicks

 

I say this because the m16 is VERY easy to use, I'm not trying to offend anyone that uses it. It is overpowered, though it will never be nerfed. I guarantee that if two people shoot each other at the same time the guy with the m16 will win 99 times out of 100.

how do you know the m16 will never be nerfed if it is so overpowered?

I think the m16 is relatively easy to use and is (rightly) one of the best assault rifles. it is not super overpowered in general, with respect to the entire game, but it is certainly one of the best AR, if not the AR of choice.

I am a big fan of the m21 EBR, the magnum pistol + tactical knife, the p90, the ACR, and the AUG.

 

nope not true. depends how far and how good, close range sure if your aim is right, 3 round bursts are highly accurate if you miss you miss, if you dont you definitely dont. i find the lmgs to be very effective against anything and all, single bursts hurts even more.

Us BF2 veterans call this tactic the "dolphin dive."

To defeat people who do this, jump and stand right on top of them and go full auto.

 

Personally, if I know a guy is around the corner (and if I know the guy knows I'm around the corner), I wouldn't flashbang- it gives them an excuse to rush towards you (because they know that you'll be waiting for the bang to go off). Instead, if you have an automatic weapon (something like the MP5K Rapid Fire works well here), I jump out, and shoot while in midair. It really takes them by surprise.

 

I am not certain it will not get nerfed, but it has been a problem since the CoD4 and I don't see them fixing it.

 

Well they did move it to a higher level. Which fixes the ubiquity problem, but also introduces the balance question... "Power to the poor" vs. "Power to the pros." Vicious cycle eh?

 

protip: if you don't want to worry about any weapon being over or underpowered...

...play hardcore. it's really the only way to play.

 

Well I guess you could look at it that way. I really disapprove of how it's implemented. You can pretty much spray in the general direction and kill someone. Again, MP5K works wonders, as do Glocks, or any fast, inaccurate automatic weapon. It really takes the fun out of aiming. It's who sees who first.

I'm just saying...once people go Hardcore...it's really hard to go back to a scenario where you almost *have* to equip Stopping Power...where some weapons are completely worthless (hi, F2000)...where one sniper round bullet is often times not enough...and where you have to shoot someone with 7 or 8 bullets just to stop them from running.

All I played in CoD4 was hardcore, but if you thought camping was bad in MW2, don't even bother with hardcore, it is 10x worse. I was very disappointed in this. Its not really IW's fault, I blame the way the maps are set up.

 

i'm the same way.

i only played hardcore multiplayer modes in the first modern warfare (cod4). i absolutely hate hardcore deathmatch in MW2. it's just a boring camp fest.

 

DraXxus1549, I mean this in the most sincere way, but if you don't like the guns, the perks, the maps, the way people play in MW2, you're better off not playing it... I mean come on, this is a thread where people offer other people tips on how to better themselves at the game and enjoy the game more. Not one of five hundred threads where you get to talk about how much you hate the game.

 

In HC if i hit someone in the leg with a silenced sniper they sometimes don't die =/

 

My real beef with this game is the few balance issues with a couple of weapons. I don't think I have said anything about the perks or maps. So I am a little confused about that. Also what hundred threads are you talking about? Yes we have discussed this in the console forum, but if my math serves me correctly that is 2 threads. Why don't you rethink your argument next time you want to attack me, thanks.

 

Hey is it possible to disable the prestige mode button so I don't accidentally hit it?

This proves my point... You don't like the game - you don't like the weapons, you don't like the players, you don't know how players advocate certain weapons, you don't like the tips players give, you don't like how IW made MW2 maps. Ok fine you don't have anything to complain about the perks, congratulations to you! You should be proud of the fact that despite the countless negative views you have of the game, you can find one thing to not complain about. Honestly, have you made a single post that contributes to this thread? No. Unlike me, if you have nothing to learn from players here, why even bother reading? And why even bother complaining about how other players play?

 

Nope. And if you do click it, it asks you like 10 times if you're absolutely sure you want to go into Prestige mode. You're not going to accidentally reset your rank.

I still don't understand your logic, I am not a fan of 2 weapons in this game, and maybe a few maps, do YOU have anymap you don't like? Well if you do, then stop playing this game. If you don't like two weapons and that's all you talk about, of course that's what people are going to think. So if you are only interested in things you don't like, then you should stop playing. I don't have any maps I don't like, only maps I have yet to learn and get better at.

topic = MW2 tips and tricks (and tactics)

I'll mention one of my favorite noob class loadouts, this one is just hilarious:

Primary
Assault Rifle of Choice (AK47 in my case, also think highly of the ACR, but since you will hopefully not be using it at all, whatever works)
-The Noob Tube (M203 Frag Grenade Attachment)

Secondary
Reserved - One Man Army

Perks (Pro versions are better but not necessary, unlike some classes which kind of break if you don't use the Pro versions):

One Man Army
Danger Close (if you get the Pro version, you get extra air support damage, you will tend to get more killstreak reward kills)
Anything (I like Commando Pro, if something makes sense here let me know)

Concept (Step by step procedure):

Use the M203 frag grenade and get a kill (danger close will increase the M203 damage)

Do it again!

Reload by using one man army to reselect the same class you are already using (this replenishes your ammo AND you don't need to reload your M203 at this point)

Go back to step one and dominate!

 

It doesn't break your killstreak when you swap classes with One Man Army right? Any other classes you recommend?

I just unlocked everything for the SCAR, and I'm using SCAR w/ silencer + heartbeat sensor, Cold-Blooded, and Ninja, not sure what first perk to use. I'm debating between Sleight of Hand vs Scavenger. I like this class a lot.

You can replace one man army with scavenger and use a thumper for your secondary. another 2 shots right off the bat and whatever you can pick up

 

Well now that I have achieved lvl. 70 it is just too easy for me to play and pwn. Oh well, I feel like I got my money's worth out of MW2, I will still keep playing it because I think it's fun.

No prestige for me though, I don't think I could play through the MP all the way up to lvl. 70 again. I like having all my guns and perks.
