I've read elsewhere that installing GeForce drivers can/will greatly improve gaming performance on these chipsets.

I'm interested to try this (I've got a Precision 6300), but thought I'd ask first about others' experiences with it.

I might end up making a dual boot if the render performance takes too big a hit - gaming's really secondary, but I'd like to see better performance when I do game.

Anyone have any tips or advice beyond downloading the latest GF drivers?

My only advice would be to backup all your files first. :)

Please do not install geforce drivers on a quadro graphics card. You can potentially brick/destroy your graphics card.
In order to get geforce drivers to run, you would need to modify the gpu bios, and trick it to pick it up as a geforce.

I dont know why you would want to do this, you paid more for a quadro.

Please do not believe the common mosconception that quadros cannot game. I have played Crysis on all high setting in my Voodoo laptop, and it runs as good or better than a 7950Gtx.

If you want higher framerates, and you have Vista, shut off the aero feature, and you will notice a really big jump in gaming performance.
