Hi hopefully this will become a Sticky.
I am trying to open a thread where we all will benefit from studying the differences in gaming from these 2 very similar series. I would actually dare to say indentical.
Since i have the 1600m model with 512Mb i learned that its basically the same hardware as 8700GT with 512Mb. I agree with ppl that the 8700GT has a gaming purpose as all the Geforce M series the Quadro FX M are high end cards for people doing everithing from digital content creating on a movie set, engineers at the plant, to the geo-scientist on a remote oil rig, or any other 3D applications users. However they are more then capable to fallow with the Geforce M series.
Comparison 1600m Vs. 8700GT
1600M ( 512Mb ):
Graphics Bus: PCI Express
Memory Size: up to 512Mb
Memory Interface: 128bit dual rank ( its not about the size of the boat it seems )
PowerMizer Version: 7.0
Graphic Memory Bandwidth: up to 25.6Gb/sec
C Programming Environment: Yes
Shader Model: 4.0
Direct x10 compatible.
8700GT ( 512Mb ):
Graphics Bus: PCI Express
Memory Size: up to 512Mb
Memory Interface: 128bit dual rank ( its not about the size of the boat it seems )
Shader Model: 4.0
Graphic Memory Bandwidth: up to 25.6Gb/sec
Direct x10 compatible.
I did test on both the cards on same configurations. The averages of 20 tests in 3dmark 06 (1280x1024) from both come to :
NVIDIA Quadro FX 1600M
4680
NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT
4760
identical with 163.44.
Feel free to post all youre comments and opinions on this thread especially if you have some more knowlege about the Quadro FX and Geforce M but i just want to make it clear that the nvidia buisness solutions are more then good for gaming.

I think you would get more replies if it weren't for the fact that this is already well-known.
You can install the regular GeForce drivers on your Quadro card and it will show up as a regular 8700M-GT.
