The quadro fx 570 has the G84 so it might be affected. Recently, a bios update was listed as 'critical' on think vantage updates... so I'm guessing this might mean bad news for the T61p cards. But after installing it, I haven't really noticed any difference... except my lowest temp observation of 50C in the AC room. but they seem to be fluctuating more than before... And when I checked version of the card in device manager, it was listed as rev A1... there's a rev A2 also around for the 8600m GT cards... so one of these versions might be affected.

To be honest, I'd be happy enough if the thinkpad lasted me till nov 09. I got it only in june... i need it for college. My temps at idle are around 56-58C in an air conditioned room in India. Last night they went up to 68 when I was on battery before they came down to 58 by itself when i connected power (on video playback power preset). Are these fluctuations ok? cos i've heard that these heat cycles are the main issue more than high temps. The other day running trackmania for about an hour temps went up to 86 at room temp of 34C... and about 76 in the air conditioned room... I need the laptop mainly for maya and studio tools next year... So am I looking to facing a lot of trouble or sending it for repairs for the GPU?

PS: PLEASE NOTE that I use CPUID HWmonitor for measuring my temps, so let there be no confusion by listing tpfancontrol temps which are 12C lower for the GPU...

You temps are within specs, so far its looking like the ddr3 8600m and 8400m models are the defective ones, so that might follow over for the fx570.

yea the temps seem to be in check... i just wanted to find out if these fluctuations (b/n 68C while on battery to 56C while on AC in video playback setting while watching a divX video) normal? are these the fluctuations they are talking about? or are they referring only to the heat cycles due to switching the comp on and off?

also i want to know if anyone has any idea about the possibilty of rev A1 or rev A2 being affected or if there's a diff version all together?!

and most importantly any idea how long the affected cards are expected to last? assuming they'r in a fairly well cooled notebook such as a T61p...
