    Hello,
I cracked the code this afternoon i made a goof INF mod so i could install quadro drivers on my 650m MSi laptop :D I installed the new quadro 310.70 driver. So now i am basicly wondering what are the gains of my new driver? I didnt see any gains in Cinebench open gl benchmark. Do i basicly have a K2000m now as they basicly seem to have very simular chips?

My Nvidia control panel has stoped working for some reason does anyone know how to fix this?

edit: my laptop is giving me lots of errors now when i start up certain programs. When i start up 3D mark it gives an error. I feel like that driver aint working good now. How can i make it run good with the good aditional software so i can run things on my 650m. I only run on the HD4000 now

Can you reverse the driver so I can install Geforce driver on my K2000m ? I'm not into CADs much so I really don't need the Quadro optimized stuffs

I'm not sure what the difference is between pure vbios flash and an INF mod, but the 650m hasn't been out for that long on the market and maybe the K2000m is not yet supported with the software you are testing. Try to check on software websites which video cards are "officialy" supported on the versions you are using.

I had a similar problem with Revit 2011 on my 6990m. It gave me an error saying that my card is not supported. However, Revit 2012 does not give me this error anymore.

    Hope it helps. :hi2:

AFAIK, nvidia introduced some stuff that disabled several things if Quadro drivers were installed on a GeForce GPU. Before the 9000 series, you could switch between them by simply changing drivers. I doubt you'd get Quadro CAD performance out of your GPU.

    thanks for all the input.

That 650m is not officialy supported for sure. I made the quadro driver supported as i modded the inf (i changed the cards it said it was for to geforce cards to make it support it that way you can run it without it saying no compatible hardware found). It seems like the chip from the 650m and the K2000m are very simular about the same clock speed same amount of cores etc.

i could but i wont until i know it works and there is any real benefit for you. As i am finding a lot of problems now with my quadro drivers it might not be too much of a good idea that you do it as well.

What are those things and how does it know i am running on a geforce? I tought it wouldnt install at all if you are running on a GeForce chip it will say before you install it.

The bigest problem i am finding now Nvidia control panel isnt working and with it Nvidia Optimus. Does anyone know how to fix problem? Thisway i cant even run on my 650m and only on my HD4000.

changing an inf file isn't going to give you quadro card, it wont run like the card or act like it. You need to find the card that closely matches the 650m, get a vbios that will work with the 650m and turn it into a quadro. And that isn't as easy as it sounds.

It "knows" because nv made both GPUs. Their workstation products cost a fortune. Comparatively, the GeForce line is much cheaper. The reason they did this is so people couldn't go around flashing their cheaper GeForce GPUs into more expensive Quadros. I'm sure it can be done, but it would take someone with enough knowledge of the chip to get around it. And if they added some hardware to their Quadros then there is nothing anyone can do. Bottomline is, this is most likely not going to work. If you look around, there's very few that have claimed to do it.

ok thanks for the input! Im not that good with software it never does what i want even something relativly easy as OC my 650m further than 970MHz (further than with MSi afterburn) didnt work. I´ll have to surrender  Was fun trying to mess around with those INF files tho :p

It would indeed be sweet that with such an easy thing as a modded INF file you could change your GeForce into a Quadro pitty that aint the truth. I feel like my 650m is letting me down with Google sketchup. Im only more tempted to sell my machine and built myself a desktop instead. And my budget doesnt alow me to get a really nice laptop with a decent quadro card.

ill have to surrender and get those geforce drivers again. What driver shall i install for my Geforce the beta or WHQL? Thanks for all the input!

still can´t get the idea out of my head to give it a shot. It seems like the K2000m is really simular to the 650m, same amount of cuda cores. Would anyone have any idea where to start when i´d give it a shot? Where or how do i get a K2000m vbios for instance? Or is it really that difficult or are those chips really that different that it is not worth trying?

(yes i am really that stuborn)
