Hi, i am thinking of getting a laptop with a 512 quadro fx2500 and i want to know how it compairs with the 512 7900 gtx. I know that 3d mark scores are roughly the same, but i heard that the quadro was much better in opengl then it is in directX programs. i was wondering if it would, hands down beat a 256 7800gtx, and what people had to say about how it would preform in oblivion, fear, ect. thnx.

Some performance tests are published in this and other forums, but it's usually difficult to compare two cards without well-defined benchmarks. F.E.A.R. has built-in video test, so it's more or less straightforward: here

As to OpenGL, it doesn't look like Quadro's OpenGL implementation is better for gaming. From what I could gather, it seems that, at default driver settings, games run actually a bit slower than on supposedly equivalent 7900GTX, albeit with better picture quality. DirectX games, on the other hand, should not be affected by Quadro's OGL optimizations.

If it's the same clock speeds, it will perform the same, if not better than the 7900gtx.

And it will perform much better than a 256 7800GTX.
