I'm in the market for an inexpensive notebook. What video card could run Quake 2 and Quake 2 engined games like Kingpin? Must also be able to run Quake 1 with the Tremor OpenGL engine mod. Would like to run in high resolution mode.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Scott

Also, would they run on a Geforce 6150? Seem to be the most common type at Best Buy and Circuit City.

Any modern notebook. I've played Q2 quite comfortably at 1024x768 and maximum (such as that is) graphics detail on an S3 Unichrome.

Edit: A GeForce 6150 will handle Quake 2 engine games with extreme ease. The Q2 engine is older even than the original UT engine, remember.

You could run Q2 with software rendering at max details, highest resolution...

I need it to run in OpenGL mode. I don't like software mode. Would anyone list the video card that are OpenGL compliant? I need some current examples on the low end market.

    Thanks

You could probably go to best buy and spend $600 and get a computer that will blaze through those games.

Thanks for all the input, I'll look around tomorrow. I just love the old games with all the user created stufff on the net. I'll leave my high-end gaming to my 360.

Getting a laptop for quake 2?

You may as well get a $100 laptop off fleabay.

Hell pocket pcs can play Quake 2 now.

    You're wasting your money.
