Now , before anyone jumps the fence, I did search both the forum and google and have not found any helping ideas...
A friend of mine convinced me to play Quake 3 again on the net like in the old days , and I just can`t install it , it says the version is incompatible with my system...

This is a bummer, Q3 was one of my favorite games. From Activisions site:

    Question
Will this game work on Windows Vista?

    Answer
This game should install and play fine in single-player mode. You may get a message about compatibility with My Talk Fax Pro 7 during install. You can bypass this error by clicking on the Run Program button.

In multiplayer mode there are issues with Punkbuster support. Due to Vista's security features playing on Punkbuster servers with Punkbuster enabled will give you an error. Unfotuantely there is no fix for this at this time.

Note: This product is designed for use with Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT 4.0 and Activision cannot guarantee full compatibility with Windows Vista. This product has not been thoroughly tested and certified with the new Microsoft Operating System.

To install I would try to run the setup.exe file instead of using the autorun and see if that helps as well. Or at worst, you can install it on a different OS then copy the game folder over and delete the config file and see if that works.

Well, I`l try that, since I don`t have any option and this friend is getting pretty full of himself ( back in the old days I used to wipe the floor with his face on all maps) :D

EDIT : you know what, nevermind, just tried running the setup.exe from the CD and installed in a minute :D Q3DM17 here I come baby! :D

    Glad to here it worked!

Man...now I am going to have to dusty off the old copy and load it up lol. One my friends recently setup an RA3 server (we used to play that A LOT...perhaps too much lol).

    Happy fragging!
