When I insert the cd, a tiny windows pops up and says 'Library not Registered'.

Thankfully, google gave me a solution, to go into the cd and run 'setup' manually.

I did this, and when I get prompted to enter the cd key, the screen starts blinking slightly, and I get the BSOD. I get it every time I try, so I can't install quake.

    Any solutions?

Did you try right clicking the "setup icon" and run it in compatibility XP mode?
