I've been trying to play Quake II lately because, frankly, I like it.

Anyways, under OpenGL it runs like absolute garbage on my laptop. At 1280x800 my framerate is choppy, and all things considered, it shouldn't be like this. If I can run Quake 3 at 1280x800 6xAA and 16xAF, I think Quake 2 should be running a-okay.

I suspect it's the HyperMemory causing my miserable performance, but does anyone have any suggestions? Things I can do, or possible causes of the problem?

I dont think that is Hypermemory, I dont see a reason why... Maybe install newest drivers or reinstall the game totally.

If that doesnt work, go to ATI Tray Tools and set for OpenGL games everything on Application Controlled and Maximum Performance instead of Best Quality.
