yay
i cant wait... this demo won't have no multiplayer feature?
-
ah nevermind... i can't wait until monday, should have put it out today so that i can enjoy it over the weekend for those who work all week
-
I thought the demo was out this summer? I thought I knew people who played it?
-
-
There was a supposedly-private Beta that got leaked all over the internet this summer. That's probably what you've seen.
I'm looking forward to a proper demo. It's a solid multiplayer shooter, though I doubt I'd pay money for just a purely multiplayer shooter. Hell, I only own CS:S because it used to actually come with Half-Life 2. -

"We're working with a large number of file hosting websites in order to make the Demo available to as many people as possible. These include Yahoo, Nvidia, FilePlanet, and Fileshack among many others - we'll be keeping an up-to-date list of mirrors right here on the Community Site, so you can pick the one that's best for you."
So we all won't have to go crazy looking for someplace to download so there will plenty of places. Still won't stop the servers from being massively clogged. -

Well people, you're going to have to tell me how this game is
-
Played very briefly and it runs great at a steady 30FPS on my 1520 @1440x900 on High settings with AA off.
-
I don't know how to start it... I mean, I have the demo and I have to make an account online and it needs some key or something :|

do those work on laptops...dont you need a modded inf or something along those lines -
-
Does that mean SLi in Vista finally? (just confirming)
-
are you running a 8600M GT gfx card and have installed these drivers, if so could I possible ask you for your modded inf please -
I haven't download the driver yet, but here is what to do with the inf:
1.open nv_disp.inf with notepad.
2.Find "[NVIDIA.Mfg.NTx86.6.0]".
3.Copy/Paste "%NVIDIA_G84.DEV_0407.1% = nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0407" under the line you found in step2.(without "")
should look something like this:
should look something like this:

Thanks miladesn
Played the demo, everything maxed out at 1440 x 900 got constant 30 fps, there is a cap at 30 so yea.
As for the game it should have looked a bit more next gen after spending that much time in development and I sure as hell hope EA doesnt sue them up the a** as everything is the same, from the loading screen to the login to the menu screen to the gameplay.....everything. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Max settings on 1680 x 1050 with a few stutters sometimes when alot of explosion but generally great. NO AA no vert sync and no soft shadows. I was never a big quake fan but hey its a free demo and it still doesn't change my mind. Its not too my liking. But the graphics are pretty good and the gameplay was eh. But a good demo nonetheless.

so its just meh, not great not terrible?
-
Its not as its hyped up to be, from the development it looked to be this great game with great graphics....its not its pretty much a complete ripoff of battlefield series, like a mod for et which makes it look like bf2 or something.
But hey its a 700MB demo so its worth the download -
Saying all that I won't actually buy the game (even though I really liked the beta and demo) as it should have been released 6 months ago, not now when UT3 is around the corner. -
its like the illegitimate love child of BF2142 and Unreal Tournament.
-
I downloaded and installed the demo just now and it gives me an "Fatal Error" when I tried to play it.
I'm using 163.44 driver for my Go6600 which have no problems running other games.
Fatal Error: Image'_default' was generated with internal format 0x83f0 but GL returned 0x83f2 -

well it does not work for me, i can get to the main menu, but then when i press anything on the menu, the screen blanks, my screen says no input signal, and there is a tearing sound on my speakers, and i need to restart. i JUST updated the drivers today as well....any ideas?
-
Sweet, just fixed it and it runs great now!
Anyone else got the same error as me can go to this page and fix it using riva tuner.
-
damn u maskin lol....i have an ati x700, it says it should work it is supported...this is really pissing me off
-
This game is runs much better and smoother than BF series that EA has. It loads better and runs smoother that any patch BF2 or 2142 game. Thats just from the beta I play have yet to play the demo.
-
-
have a quake wars beta 2 +patch 1.1 runs smooth on everything hi + some aa and af. is the demo pretty much the same?
-
i just got done playing the demo for the first time and i was VERY surprised at the way they decided to implement so many BF qualities. the mapping and spawning is identical to that of the BF series. other than that the game runs VERY smooth on all high graphics .. the game is a bit confusing at first because there is SO MANY THINGS TO DO. it is quite overwhelming. i still dont understand what to do on some of the objectives but i was happy that i could grab some kills, deploy a "turret", and take a ride in the flyers. i am however unhappy with the overwhelming nature of the game - the mission objective menu where you can pick what you want to do gets a bit hectic but i guess i will get used to it. also, no one wants to be the strogg! i can't get a game where i can be the "humans". if you are unfamiliar with the quake universe (such as i) i suggest you research a little bit about the weapons/classes/objectives - it will make the first time playing much more enjoyable (otherwise you will just run around for awhile clueless on what to do)..
NOTE: BF EXPERIENCE WILL HELP IN UNDERSTANDING THE GAMEPLAY MECHANICS OF THIS GAME. -
THANK YOU MASKIN! my day is now completed
-
oh, and before i forget, whats up with the 32 player cap on the map? this is supposed to be one of the "bigger" maps in the game and i thought it supported 64 players (i.e. BF)...
-
well the hotfix didnt work
cant imagine what it would be, it just blanks my screen and makes that really not good sounding tearing noise.. -
Wow! *RECOMMENDED* system requirements seem quite sparse:
http://quakewars.filefront.com/info/systemspecs
Minimum System Requirements
Operating System: Windows 98/2000/ME/XP
Processor: Pentium PIII 800 MHz Processor or AMD Athlon
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 2™ or ATI Radeon™ 7000 or higher
CD-ROM: 4X or Faster
RAM: 256 MB RAM
Recommended System Requirements
Operating System: Windows XP
Processor: CPU Pentium 4 2.4GHz or Athlon64 3000
Video Card: Geforce FX 5700 or Radeon 9600 or higher
CD-ROM: CDRom 52x or DVD Rom 16x
RAM: 512 MB RAM
This game will run on Windows 98!!! LOL! -
ltcommander_data Notebook Deity
Actual requirements are here:
http://www.digitalbattle.com/2007/09/06/quake-wars-system-requirements-demo-details/
And with a GeForceFX 5700 or Radeon 9700 and 512MB of RAM in XP, the requirements are still very low. -
was anyone else expecting 64 player games?

This demo worth downloading if your into FPS games?
-
I loaded it up on my desktop machine (E6850 @ 3.4GHz, 8800 GTS 640MB) and while frame-rates were around 60 shown by FRAPS (1920x1200 maxed out mind you), it seemed kind of laggy. I mean when in vehicles it seemed to stutter.
I generally have a great ping (<50ms), so I am sure that is not an issue. -
I know my laptop is pretty decent for today's games but holy **** was I surprised when I was able to this at 1280x800 2xaa,4xaf, most everything on high, no shadows, and get 30+ fps which is very playable. My rig is 1.6Ghz Core 2 Duo, 8600GT 512, 1gb ram , XP SP2 Home

i've just tried it on my 1520 (t7100, 2GB ram, 8600m gt) and it runs great at max settings (no AA though) at 1440 x 900. This game seems really well optimised and i agree with the guy that says it loads and plays a lot quicker/smoother than the BF series.

Beware Users With Shader Model 2.0 On Their Gfx Hardware!
You **need** Shader Model 3.0 To Play This Game.
I Have An X700 And It Does Not Work Even Though It Claims It Is Supported In The Readme. Hope For A Fix Or It Will Stay This Way.
