Hello, today I wanted to play trough 007, Quantum Of Solance. But I saw that my CD was broken (not compleatly off). However, I tried to install it, it took a while for my Qosmio to reorginaze the CD but however it started the instellation. But at one point I got 'can't read error' however :D I thing is, I still have the CD-Key, so is there anywhere I can download a legal copy of the game and play with with my CD-Key? Or what are my other options?

I believe if you have Steam, you can click the "Add a Game" in the bottom left hand corner, then register the CD-Key, and then you will no longer need the original CD/DVD. I did this for my retail copy of UT3 and it worked.

You could also use less legitimate methods and use the CD key you have to register the game. Technically, that's not illegal since you bought the game.

I've got Steam. I have also checked out on Steam's webside, and QOS is not supported. But I can give it a try anyways. Then I must find a ISO image of the game, since I've need the CD/DVD to play.

EDIT: Nope, I've just tried it and it says it is a invalid serial. I used the 'activate a product' on 'games' menu.

Either find someone with the disk that you can copy, download a copy of the disk through bit torrent, or call up the company and pay $20 or so for a new disk.

hmmm, I'll check the size. However, it will not be a problem for me to download it. And I assume it will not be illegal as I have the CD-Key. I think I'll be able to download it over-the-night.

I don't think anyone would frown on a copy of the game if you have a legit key.

I found a ISO now, and download. The size is at 7.58 GB. I think it will finish over the night. But I guess we must wait for tomorrow and see, I'll report back if it will work or not.

basically, you don't own the game or the content, you own a license to use it. that said, since the content is all completely locked out without the CD key, it should be fine to download the CD image from where-ever, as long as you are not downloading or uploading anything that would let you bypass the CD key protection.

If we're going to get technical, using BitTorrent for this type of thing is still illegal as he would be uploading the content at the same time he is downloading it. While he has a license to play the game, he doesn't have one to upload it to anyone else.

Though in a practical sense it's fine.

Try using an image mounting software?

Otherwise you'll either have to split it and burn it over 2 DVDs or burn it to a Blu-Ray disc :p

Yup. I'm downloading a image mounting software now. For the Blu-Ray part; I've even not have Blu-Ray reader :D

EDIT: I'm installing the game now. It goes much faster then normal, I think it is because it reads from my SSD disk. However, it is almost finished. I'm going to let you know the results...

    Just disable seeding.

@ tuηay - you must have the same version/region/language DVD for it to recognize it. I'm not sure what the copy protection is but with daemon tools you can emulate some protections so it bypasses the check.

Hmm, I've installed the game from same ISO image. So the disks are not diffrent. I'm using daemon tools, so I'll look bit around for that. Thanks for your answers everybody!
