    Hey guys,

I used to game on my desktop PC and pre-ordered Half Life 2 way back when it came out (Mainly to get Counterstrike: Source). I never really got far into Half Life 2 at all.

I mean technically I still own it as I downloaded steam and my login still works and comes under owned games etc too!!

Lately I was looking at the Orange Box for PS3 but realised theres no point getting it for £30 if I already paid for HL2 ages ago. I was wondering what are my options for getting:

    TF2 and evtually HL2: Episodes 1 & 2

Do I need to just pay the full price for each of them as if I was buying them seperately? I don't really want to pay for the whole orange box pack since I already have HL2... I want TF2 more to begin with and EP 1 & 2 will follow later on.

For TF2 I played it on 360 and hated it, but all the games were tiny because nobody was online. Is it more popular on PC and are the servers more populated as it seems really interesting, but hard compared to COD4 and Battlefield: BC

If you buy the orange box, you can ''gift'' HL2 to another account, so if one of your mates whats the game, you can make them pay for it. :p

Cool that they let you do that. Could I create a second account and gift it to that account. Then just give somebody the login details when I want them to be able to play online with me?

This would be to friends of course.

I was in Game yesterday. Noticed you could get HL EP1 and EP2 for £20 i think it was. That was for PC, not for ps3 though.

There might be more people online on the PS3 as we don't have to pay so much a year to go online!

Yep you can. Just remember that only one of them can be logged onto that Steam account at any given time, and each time it's on a new PC you have to download it.

As for TF2: I have it for PC and it's covered in 32-player servers... lots of people playing it.

TF2 on PC is a hundred times better than it is on the 360. I played the 360 version a lot and there was less and less people playing everyday till there was times when I couldn't get a game going. I sold it and bought the orange box on steam instead and couldn't be happier. Lots of different servers full of people. There's more maps both official and custom. They are always tweaking the gameplay and even adding new weapons to classes one at a time.

As for the price of the orange box and its contents I have played only Portal and TF2 since I bought the pc version. Its been well worth the money. Maybe one day I'll get pumped enough to play HL2 and its episodes but they just aren't appealing to me right now.

I have 6 32-man TF2 servers saved in my favorites and there are times when I actually have to wait for a player slot to open up on them. There is never a lack of players in the PC version, and the way the fan base is for Valve's games, you can expect a good 3-4 years more gameplay with it.

    I love the custom games.

You guys know of any unique ones? I've played pool before and that was fun. I've also seen a Mario Kart map but haven't tried it yet.

I play on the SourceOP 24/7 2fort server, it's instant spawn, you'll see me under the handle (UC) Grandmaster Vash on occasion. I don't play everyday, but you can add me once you see me ingame.

TF2 is a pretty cool game. Problem is , I 'm not that into objective based FPS games. I prefer a good team deathmatch any day. So I dont play it that much anymore, not since I got COD4 for PC

I wouldn't get any of the games individually, buying the orange box for 39.99 is the same as buying TF2 and Episode 2 (JUST Episode 2) separately. But in the orange box you get HL2, HL2 Ep 1, HL2 Ep2, Portal (AMAZING GAME), AND TF2.

Hell you also get peggle extreme for free.

I cannot in any way recommend getting ANY of the orange box games separately, it is a blatant waste of money unless you NEVER plan on playing ANY of the other games. If you only EVER plan on playing TF2, then get TF2. But the SECOND you think of getting another orange box game you have just started wasting money.

Is 39.99 really asking too much for 5 fantastic games (6 if your count peggle)?

Agreed. Economically, the Orange Box is the way to go. I also had purchased HL2 a while ago, but when the Orange Box dropped to $40 on Amazon, I quickly bought it and BOY did I make a good purchase. All the games (esp Portal) are great and have given me many many hours of gameplay. Hell, I'm still playing TF2 (although not very much anymore :().

I did play a bit of portal on the 360 and it was really fun. Looking forward to getting that for PC when my new laptop arrives!

I also have a PS3 and it is the main console I use for gaming, the 360 doesn't see much action but I had orange box on 360 for like a week and TF2 was empty. I'll deffo buy the orange box and "gift" HL2 to another account.

TF2 looked amazing from the first videos I ever saw but then when it came out nobody seemed interested. It was also disappointing when UT3 came out on PS3 and didn't take off as well as i'd hoped.

I enjoyed the UT games on PC for years and when it was coming to PS3 got really excited. It has a good fan base still and the mods are great, but I bet the community is huge for it on PS3. Hopefully my 1530 will run it well.

Come to the PC side...you will find amazing things playing UT3 or TF2 on the computer. Especially TF2, there are hundreds of servers brimming with players. It is SO much more active and fun to play on the PC. Also, I couldn't ever aim the portal gun so well with a controller, I enjoyed that more on the PC as well.

I like TF2s style of play... somehow I got bored of CoD4 recently and have really been digging the Capture Point, and Payload modes in TF2.
