Hey I just had a quick question on getting the Vietnam expansion. I bought the game from a regular store, so I own it on disc rather than digital download. My question is how do I actually buy the expansion then? Is there a tab or something that comes right out of the main menu, or do I buy it and download it from the EA store? Or is there another disc that I should purchase?
Oh and the reason I can't check is that I have the disc somewhere back at my college house, whereas I'm at home for the holidays =S

Or should I just suck it all up and buy it on Steam (as it's only $6.80), hoping that the Steam will put it on sale? =)

You are merely buying the unlock code.
The Vietnam expansion is already included in the latest game patch, just update your game to the current version, you should see Vietnam within BC2 main screen.
To buy the code:
- Go to EA store
- Make sure you use the same email address as BC2 login email to purchase the expansion
- Code will show up after checkout, also will be sent to your email address
- Write that code down, launch BC2
- Type in the code when prompted (after click on Vietnam)
I heard you cannot buy Vietnam on Steam if you have retail disc version, at least it won't unlock the expansion. -

K, thanks =)

I think I'll just keep everything BFBC2-related off of Steam

the reason I've been going with steam is because i hate putting in my cd to play or sometimes I can't find a no cd crack for a particular game. Anyway Bad Company > Vietnam.

And is Vietnam really better than normal BFBC2? All the reviews said it was baller, especially with the fact that there are only iron sights rather than ACOG's and red dots, something that kinda promoted unfair gameplay. -

I like steam as well.
Thing is with BF Vietnam, its not an independent game its just basically a content unlock.
the BFBC2 game is the game your playing, so if you buy the $15.00 expansion and try to use it on steam, they would also have to give you the BFBC2 game.
So the only natural way for it to work is they require you to have the BFBC2 game to play. Since they had it on sale for like $6.50 for this christmas sale thats not so bad if you want to have it on steam.
I have it on EA Downloader and by far prefer steam, so I actually bought twice by buying on steam just to not have to worry about EA Downloader anymore.
