I have Gateway P6860FX with 8800M GTS 64 stresm processor, on a 17 in screen at 1440 x 900 and also a Gateway FX desktop with 8800GT 112 stream processor on a 22 in screen at 1680 x 1050 screen. I know ram has to do with screen size, What about the stream processor?

I played cod4 on laptop 1440 x 900 (highest) and desktop 1680 x 1050 (highest) respectively, I didnt really benchmark them, but considering the 17 in is smaller area to cover than 22 and 1440 x 900 is less horsepower hungry than 1680 x 1050, would there be noticeable FPS and eye candy difference? or the difference in number of stream processors would be less significant in this case due to the screen size and resolution...?

Follow up...to me, both game don't show that much difference at each's highest resolution, or maybe I'm just half blind...

Screen size does not affect performance, only screen resolution. Expect the desktop to run faster thanks to faster clocks and a greater number of stream processors. COD4 is not going to be a problem for either of those systems however, so even if the desktop is putting out a better framerate, the notebook will be easily playable as well.
