So, I've noticed that there's a variant of the 860/870/880M that come with 4GB/6GB/8GB of VRAM. My understanding is that at least for desktops, certain higher VRAM cards don't really have a point because the memory bus size isn't able to make use of that extra VRAM (Ex. the 770 4GB)

I was just curious, is there anything different about these versions of the 860/870/880M that allow them to make use of the extra VRAM? Are these GPUs in fact able to make use of that much VRAM?

It makes sense for systems with SLI setups. Otherwise, not really, except to cache huge textures.
