I will be getting a game or two for Christmas (STALKER and maybe another), but when I go home for the break I will not have internet access on my computer (I could get it, but it would be way too much trouble, especially just for dial-up). I am wondering if it is possible to download game patches now without the game then apply them once I get it? I would rather not have to restart stalker when I get back from break and update.
And about stalker's patches, if I download the latest one, will that get me up to date, or do I need to download the previous ones too? None of the sites I've looked at are specific about this, and I just want to be sure.
Thanks.

Because I have STALKER on Steam, I would not know if they are cumulative or not, however if you download the patches you shouldn't have any problems installing them without an internet connection. Go to fileplanet.com, and see if there's a 1.0003-1.0005 patch or something similar for the game. If there's nothing like that, that means all you need is 1.0005 and you're good to go. Usually the size of the patch is a good indicator if the previous patches are needed (esp. if the previous patches are larger than the most current one).

1.0005 is bigger than all the others combined, so it probably is cumulative. I might still download the others just to be safe. I'm really looking forward to playing this game.
Thanks for the help.
