Hey guys I bought a Dell e1705 with a x1400 in it. I know that these came with geforce 7800go's but Dell switched to the x1400 for what ever reason. I read on ebay where someone is selling the 7800go for these and they say to use them, you have to update the bios on the e1705.
I thought with the new mxm standard that we would be able to start swapping vid cards with no hassle. So I wonder if this means when the 7900go is out, if it won't work on the e1705 without a flash. I doubt dell will be selling the e1705 with a 7900go by then so a flash just plain out might not exist. What do you guys think?

The Dell E1705 doesn't use the MXM format, you can only use the cards Dell has. If they come out with a Go7900, then you could probably stick it in, but there may be other complications involved, as I remember with the Inspiron 9300.

chaz but there wouldn't be a flash for the motherboard bios unless dell offered a 7900 in the e1705, but by then they might have something more current to replace the e1705 by then.
