I am using driver cleaner pro to remove old nvidia gpu drivers.
The options are:
nForce Chipset
nVidia
nVidia Stereo
nVidia WDM
Which of these are neccessary to remove for uninstalling gpu drivers?
Which of these could screw up my notebook if removed?
Thanks

Chipset and driver removal should be sufficient, Remove Stereo if you're installing the LV2GO driver that offers a new stereo driver as well.
-
Remove ONLY video driver, the chipset needs to stay.

Well , because you don`t want to reinstall that again.
I can`t remember who explained it though, but I just know you need that chipset driver installed, otherwise you might experience slowdowns or errors.
First time I used DC I uninstalled the chipset by accident and started getting weird errors.
Anyway,I`m guessing the OP want to chance his video driver,so all he has to do is remove the older one,and leave the chioset driver alone. -
Fair enough, although I've always thought that installing a new driver meant the chipset was getting reinstalled as well.
-
Oops. I uninstalled the nforce chipset. So the actual video driver is the one labelled as nividia? I probably should of posted this in the stickies.
What is the nforce chipset? Is it something to do with my mobo?
If this is crucial I should probably go back to a restore point and see how that works. Please let me know guys!
p.s. if this is violating any rules could somebody move it to stickies thread?
Thanks again for the help -
Chipset drivers usually mean motherboard drivers, so you want to keep those installed. It should automatically reinstall them if you try and uninstall them, but I don't know what driver cleaner might do to the whole situation.
-
Well I did a search on my notebook and it turns out there doesn't appear to be anything nforce related. Must be completely gone now. Do I have to reinstall my mobo drivers now or will going back to a simple restore point work?

You can just reinstall the chipset driver from the CD you got with drivers .
