Hey guys, I'm about to be getting my dad's computer. It's only a few months old so hopefully it has the latest graphics card.
If I'm not mistaking it has the ATI® Mobility® Radeon X600 . How are the graphics on it playing Counter Strike Source, and Battlefield 2? For the people that own this card, are you pleased with it?
Thanks

Well, I have the Ati x200 which is capable of most 3d games, so I guess x600 should be able to handle the latest 3d games.
-
it should be able to play both games on low to mid settings.
-
You should also be able to upgrade the GPU if I'm not mistaken it's a PCI card and ATI has a trade in program as well.
-
Thanks for all the quick replies, what would I need to trade in the card for?
-
Laptops cant have their GPU's upgraded.
CS:Source should play at mediumish settings. Battlefield2 will play on low settings depending on resolution. -
Have to agree with TwilightV
Laptops or atleast most of them can't have their GPU upgraded.
But CS:S plays on high with my Mobility X600SE
BF2 is medium settings -
My main focus was just counter strike source. So if that plays and looks decent i'll be happy

Counter-Strike should run very well on an X600. It is a great card for that game.

Incase Im wrong and it ends up being the GeForce Go 7400 or the ATI Radeon Xpress 200M . Will I still be able to play source? I don't have the computer near me so im unable to find out the specs, so Im looking at websites and trying to find it lol.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 7400 is about equal or better than the x600 so I think it would run just as well

In terms of raw speed the x600 wins, so consider yourself corrected
check my gfx charts for more info!

From the way you guys are talking I should still be satisfied with either one

For Counter-Strike: Source, either the Go7400 or the X600 will be fine, the Radeon will probably be faster. The Go7400 will do better in newer games.

Oops my bad - when I read computer I thought of desktop and didn't include laptop/notebook as a possibility. Nvidia MXM are the only ones that are upgradable.

The Source engine is super efficent, you should be able to run HL2, CS, or DOD on fairly high settings no problems at all with either of those 2 cards...Battlefield 2 is a tad more demanding, but at the same time, either card will run it at an acceptable level.
I have a 6400, which is similar enough to a 7400, and can manage 1024x768, 100% view distance, with most options on medium and some on low, at about 35-50 frames a second on BF2.
For all the difference thats in it I would probably go for whichever card is cheaper. -
Unless the card is MXM then no it cant be upgraded. I play BF2 on low- med(mostly low) and 800x600 on my ati 200m like butter. So yes I think the card will do fine.
Lets remeber that BF2 isnt a super graphics hog, mainly a ram hog.
Question about graphics!!!
