So back home we still have awful dial-up (average download speed, about 3.5kbps), and obviously downloading a full game off Steam onto it would be pretty much impossible. We have a computer at home and I have mine here at college with all the steam stuff on it. Is it possible to copy the files directly from my computer on to the one at home, and would the slow connection cause any other problems with it? Obviously online play is out of the question.
On a sort of off topic note, is there some way to look at just the steam collections and complete packs and whatnot? I want to see what kind of deals I can get.
Thanks.

You could just bring the harddrive with you?
There should also be a store tab in your steam software that you can open and browse games -
I would get an external hard drive yeah, as the easiest method (I guess or a USB key).

So it's as simple as just copying the Steam folder into the correct directory on the other computer and we're ready to go? I thought it might be a little more difficult since you can't usually do that with other games.

Yeah, just drag and drop. I've transferred my steam account from one computer to another and I had no problems. Just make sure after you are done to go to the "my games" tab and under each game's properties, check the integrity of the files. Any that may have gone bad in the transfer will be replaced.

Great. Thanks.
