So I am going to purchase a laptop with the amd radeon hd 6990m gpu, and I was wondering if it will be hindered by my processor. My processor is the 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM with the speed of 2.2Ghz and turbo boost up to 3.1GHz. Will this cause the gpu to wait on the cpu, essentially bottlenecking and slowing down my performance? Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

    Short answer:
    Not really.
SB cpu's are plenty fast for the gpu you mention, and cpu clock speeds impact FPS's in a relatively minimal manner.
