I have a Alienware Area-51 m5550. My laptop is MXM III. I know the radeon x1900 is compatible with my laptop but I was wondering whether the Geforce 7900 GS or Geforce 7900 GTX would be compatible with my laptop. I know that the current consumption for a GF 7900GS is 20 watts and the current consumption for the GF 7900GTX is 40 watts.

I currently have a radeon x1400 in my laptop atm and I was wondering if getting a better video card will make it look better when I'm watching a movie on the laptop.

Any help is appreciated. THx in advance.

I thought that the M5550 could only support either the Go 7600 256MB card or the X1400 128MB video card?

Just because it's MXMIII doesn't really mean much. :( Sorry.

According to Ice tea the area-51 m5550 can run the radeon x1900 without any problems so I'm thinking that its also compatible with the GF 7900 GS

I would suggest either PMing Ice-Tea or going to his forums and posting. He will be the one to help you with it. But really, look into how much it will cost you vs the cost of a new laptop. You may be surprised.
