I just oc my 8400m GT and ran the 3dmark06. I got 2348 on stock clock and 2764 on 550 GPU/ 650 mem, but I found other post that he can get like 3800 by oc 600/731. How come we have that big difference? I know the speed is difference but the score is too far away. (system almost same, see my signature)
I use nturn to oc. I think it is better than rivaturner. It is because I can set it to oc when some games or applications are running and come back to stock clock when those programs stop.

Run 3DMark at 800x600. Or better yet, grab an umbrella and start dancing in circles! Better use of your time.

    Check your drivers.

Make sure your Powermizer is disable, or set to Max performance.

Do you benchmark again (with AC power) and look not at the total score, rather compare the:
    - SM2.0 Score
    - HDR/SM3.0 Score
    - CPU Score
