    Hi guys,

I know there are dedicated dawn of war II sites, but frankly, I trust you guys more... :)

I just installed the game. I hate steam, and multiplayer generally, but I put up with steam for this because it looked like a cool game. So, I get done, and steam immediately jumps to the 'create steam account' thing...

    ...sigh...

..OK, I go through that, and then complete the install.

Then, when I go to launch the game, all I get is "The game is currently unavailable. Try again at a later time."

Before I go completely ballistic about this, what does this mean exactly? I'm hoping that it means it's patching (very slowly, I might add - wish there was a manual patch option, but I can't find one outside of steam..)

What I'm afraid it means is I need to play it through steam, or I can't play. I got this so I could play single player, and don't always have internet access - so someone please tell me that I can play single player and without being connected? And what that error message means?

EDIT: To be fair, I guess I should have said above that I'm learning to hate steam - this is my first foray into their domain, so I guess it's not fair to say I already hate them. But I'm starting to really dislike them a lot... :)

restart your pc, then right click on Dawn of War II on your steam games list, go to properties, then go to the local files tab and press "Verify integrity of game files." that might work

cool, thanks. I also found a section that says 'play offline' which may be what I'm looking for. I'm going to give it a chance to finish it's updates, then try that...

I get that message sometimes right after I install a game. For me, it's because the game is not 100% installed at that time, and I've had games that install to say, 60%, and jump to 100% with the status "ready to play", however, if I wait a while, it'll start over at 0%, though it's actually still at 60%, and it goes from there.

Yeah, confusing, I know - but basically, the game wasn't finished installing.

Yeah lithus, I get that too sometimes, but im pretty sure this guy used a CD to install, since he would have had steam to get it digitally. yeah, also wait for the game to fully update.

I think that's it - it's downloading sequential updates. I saw one go to complete and thought I was good, but now noticed that it's downloading several - so that must be it. Thanks for the good words, though - I'm just glad I can play offline; was worried there for a bit.
