So, Im in college, plan on buying an Asus G1, for sure. But what would ya'll do if you had a 37" LCD tv? Would you also get a 360 to play more graphic intensive games a little on down the road and get the G1, or would you just a get an ultraportable and buy the 360? Just wondering what you guys are thinking. Thanks.

I'd get the G1, personally (actually, I'd get the Asus A8JS or the HGL-30 that I have now, much more portable for college use than a 15.4" machine, and you can always hook it up to the 37" display for larger output). Depends on how your like playing... personally, I'd get a Wii and the G1, so you can have pretty graphics and online gaming on your computer, and then play the Wii when you have friends over in the same room, as it's much more of a social gaming system.

I have the G1 and plan on getting the 360 also...

I will use the 360 to play with friends at home in my big screen tv (I know you can plug the G1 to the big screen but it's not the same) :)

Have you seen G1's weight ?
It's 3.1KG, and adding the power brick and the books...
I think going with an ASUS V2Je or W3J (warning it's reaching EOL) or A8Js will be better

I have an old HP notebook and use a VGA cable to hook it up to my TV and just play my CPU games on the TV.

No games console for me in halls as no TV. Just my laptop... but then that's good Mr "not played Oblivion 5 weeks after buying it" lol. I will get a console when I move out with mates next year. They don't know that yet... but they will be OK with it. No choice :D

Depends on the games. Are there PC games you really want to play? 360 games? Or what if both games are available on PC and 360? It all depends. e.g. Pro Evo 6. Not possible to mod the 360 ver - and no support from Konami due to EA and Fifa tie up. But the PC mod community for Pro Evo is alive and strong. Very much depends. Lots of if's and maybe's. Sorry!

    Must be a business major...

Anyway, that setup with the 37" sounds like a killer.

i have a gaming rig and 360 and i play 360 more in college.

i mean i have roommates and people are always over at my house and we llike to have some beers while we go at it on madden or call of duty or rainbow six.

it's good to have both since i'll play my pc games when none of my friends are online for xbox to play or i use my pc for RTS games. FPS and sports games i leave to the 360 since it's much easier to play with a few guys than have a LAN party

The only pc game I play a lot is WoW. Otherwise I play the 360.

PC is a more '1 person, dominate the world' sort of thing.

Console gaming is a 'hey guys, leys get some beers and play!'

I'd honestly get the 360 while in college.

I told him to get a Sager with a 7600go... He'd save money and be able to get the 360.

    Is that a good idea?

I agree.... what is the price tag on the sager with 7600 ??

id love to find a good laptop with higher end GPU for under 1k right now
minimum id go with is a 7600, x1700 GPU.

btw, i just rocked the 360 tonight for a solid 4 hours while me and 4 guys put away 2 cases and took turns with madden and rainbow six vegas.

    good times.

Dunno, I hate Sager. Had one a few years ago. Could never get responses from their tech support, and the unit (and a few others I've seen) were questionable. Video card burned out on mine while it was still in warranty, and they wouldn't do anything about it... so yeah... I don't like Sager.

Honestly though, you may also want to look at getting a nice, light, long lasting laptop and either a gaming desktop or a 360. I wouldn't recommend getting a laptop over 6 lbs. Preferably, you'd want one under 5 lbs. Even my MBP weighing in at 5.6 lbs feels heavy after a good walk.
