    -Is a directx 10 card faster then a 9x or just only looking?
    -For faster performance should i get a 8600m gt or an go7800gtx?
    -Which card from ati or nvidia should i get at a minimum for playing a game like crysis at high quality?

    Welcome to the forums. Chaz has a very big sticky at the top of this forum that has a good answer to all 3 of your questions. In future please refer to the material therein before posting new threads.

    As for your questions, these are my answers.

    -The best DX10 card (8700GT) does not match the best DX9 card (7950GTX) in performance, however DX9 cards aren't compatible with some of the DX10 features found in the latest games. No DX10 card is considered truly high-end (i.e. with a 256-bit buswidth)

    -For faster performance the 7800GTX is generally faster, difference is less clear in modern games which are shader-heavy.

    -If you want to play the overhyped game at high quality it would be better to build your own desktop and get something like dual-SLI 8800GTX cards. It would also help to have Core 2 Duo Extreme processors and at least 3GB of RAM on your system.
