I am going on a Looong plane ride (to Saudi Arabia) and need a good RPG to pass my time.

    My questions are:

    1. Is the Witcher Enhanced Edition a good game? I want an RPG with a good fun combat system and ways to customize my character and playstyle as I level up.

    2. Will it run well on my system?

MB Pro 2.6 Ghz 4 gig ram 8600 GT 512 mb video (LOL see sig)

I dont care if it will run max settings...but I dont want a slow hog game either.

    Let me know your thoughts!

    Thanks!

Better system than mine and you won't be running everything at the lowest settings, stick to 1280 16:10 widescreen resolution.

I recommend this game, it's different from your usual hack'n'slash RPGs (timing-based clicks for smooth attacks) since it emphasis decisions and consequences and not black and white morality.

I wrote a guide on the tech tree a while back and generally there's just 2 main playstyles for the main character when approaching combat, either style is perfectly fine though and a fun way to past the time.

Yes, it's a very good RPG, even though it's a bit different than your typical RPG, because there's not really a variety of items, armor and weapons (esp. armor!). It's also solo-only, but some people prefer solo RPGs to party-based, me, for one. I can tell you that I am a hardcore fan of Fallouts (1&2), Planescape:Torment and NWN and I really enjoyed The Witcher.

As far as hardware is concerned, you're gonna be ok as long as you stick to medium settings. I played it on a desktop with C2D E4600, 2gigs of DDR2 and Radeon 3850 256MB and it was rather smooth at 1680x1050 with medium settings. It is a demanding game hardware-wise, but also very good-looking.

    I enjoyed the game :)

    1) its not customisable like oblivion or what not.
it is customisable in terms of your character's ability.
You dont really buy new weapons, you can buy side weapons but its not
like in oblivion. But yeah like you say:

    2) it should run on the lower settings.

oh and on the laptop you have it should run in the med-high range. mines a slightly worse laptop than yours specs wise and i run at mostly high settings and get a playable frame rate
