What do the following stats mean? And what is a good number to have for each one? thanks!

    Q)4 GB DDR 2 320 GB HDD?
    - 4 GB refers to RAM ( I hope) and 320 GB refers to hardisk. What do the other parts mean?

    Q) 2MB L2 cache?

    Q) 800MHz front side bus

    Q) 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics
    - I know 9600 M is one the best ones in the market, but what is the 512 MB in the front?

    Thanks again!

You are right with the Ram and hard drive

2mb L2 cache Is a buffer for the cpu so it can have a faster access to data to work faster
    2MB+ is a good idea

800mhz front side bus is also a cpu speed of how fast it can run the threads it is processing
I wouldn't go any lower than 800mhz right now but higher is better

512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics, It is almost like a seprate computer in your computer just for rendering your graphics, I havent been able to grasp the full idea of what means what on the graphics cards but higher numbers usually mean better and the 9xxxM series are some good gaming video cards

    amj1627 is pretty much right,
the 9600m gt is only a mid range card. and the 512 refers to how much memory the graphics card has access to. and more is not better. In this case 512 mb for a 9600m gt is over kill as it cannot use all that vram due to the 128bit bandwidth.
but to help u better, you need to tell us what you need the laptop for. and you better ask that in the "what notebook should I buy" sub forum

    512mb means the card has 512megabytes of dedicated memory (that's attached to it). However, the 9600m series is a mid-grade card these days. It's beaten by the 9650, 9700m 8800m series, 9800m, 260m, 280m, ati 3870, 4850, 4970.
