I have a few noobish questions about use of the x3100. For starters, am I supposed to install the latest direct x for gaming purposes? Also, is there a way to allocate more RAM for graphics in bios? I don't really do much high end gaming but am looking for some of my older games to run smoothly. Some source engine games or WoW for starters.

Install directX only if a game asks you to do so, otherwise there won't be much difference between your current version and the latest by Microsoft (unless you're having problems now or you're a game developer).

If you use XP I think it is possible to adjust how much system RAM is allocated to the video card but I can't help you on the specifics.
