So after browsing through reviews on notebookcheck I've noticed that laptops with powerful Graphics cards tend to draw about three times as much power as laptops with only integrated graphics but with otherwise almost identical specs when the computer is idle or during light use even when Optimus is active.
So my question is: could disabling the graphics card in device manager instead of using Optimus potentially triple a Laptop's battery life when it's not under heavy load?

Optimus will do a better job than manually disabling the dGPU. Optimus was made for the reason of having the iGPU level battery life in dGPU based systems.
When I disable my second GTX 1080 in device manager, my battery life is almost identical to when I have both enabled.jaug1337, don_svetlio and Gaste like this. -

^What he said and you can try to undervolt your CPU as well to extend your battery life and time. The less voltage your system has to use, the less power that is being consumed.
