Is there any fast way of checking the clock speeds of video cards? Preferably without having to install anything. I'm meaning to buy a notebook and would like to, if possible, check the clock speed of the 8600M GS in it to make sure I don't get a gimped card like that in the F3SV. I could bring a small application on a USB flash drive, I suppose, but nothing like installing 3DMark06 or something.

Doesn't seem to work, any other suggestions? Is there anyway to check just using, say, the DirectX controller?

If you do a simple dxdiag in the run menu and then switch to the video tab it will at least show the Internal DAC speed. Can't think of any programs that don't require an install that will tell you your Video card speed.

    What is the DAC speed?
And as well, radditz, the ATItool seems to only support Windows XP not Vista :(

I think DAC speed is the core clock speed, but I'm not entirely sure. It could be bus speed or something.

    Doesn't DAC mean Digital-to-Analog Converter?

I just looked it up, and yes it does. Which would be more along the lines of some sort of transfer speed... so I guess it doesn't have much to do with core speed then.

DAC= digital to analog converter. It only has relevance to the max. resolution on VGA but irrelevant to core clock.

I think EVEREST doesn't need an install, you just need to extract it. Doesn't need an install as in, it doesn't use an installer.

Yes, Everest doesnt need to be installed. It comes with the installer but you can just move the install folder onto a USB stick or any other location after. However I dont think Everest tells you the GPU clock of the core or video memory. It only tells you about system ram and the CPU.

Why doesnt Rivertune work for you? It should.
