    Hey I have seen your aquamark score at the bottom of your posts and wanted to know if there is something i need to adjust to improve my performance? I downloaded the free version of aquamark3 that you can only run on very high detail, here are my scores

    CPU: 6,322
    GFX: 2,322
    19,796

    I seem to have a faster system but you have me beat by about 2,500 points is there something I need to change?

    I don't know about Quikster, but you only have one DIMM of RAM. Right now your dual-channel capability is not being used.
    Also try turning off hyperthreading.
    I was wondering about this too, as I only got about 21588 with a pentium M 11.8 and a 128mb Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo. After I modded, though, I was able to overclock and got around 24,000[ :D]

    Completed mods:
    GPU cooling (100°C->75°C)
    Mods in progress:
    8600c to 8600 keyboard swap (to get the eraser head).

    Thats for the reply's that dose help me with why your score was higher, I ran window's like normal even have macafee running and I got a score of like 20,2XX I don't even know if thats any good? So without 2 sticks of ram I have not Hyper Threading? So if thats true I geuss I should save up 150$ to get another 512 :-( I didn't know about this...

    no you do have hyper threading, however you aren't getting the most out of your ram, with the capablity of dual channel memory access, this is not the same as hyper threading.

    Greek, when you boot your computer, hit f1 to get into the BIOS. Try disabling hyperthreading (don't worry, it won't hurt anything) and then run Aquamark. See if it makes a difference, then turn it back on. Quickster doesn't have hyperthreading, which slows down single-threaded applications.

    I looked at my bios and theres nothing about hyper threading in there, it really dosen't give me options to change much, other then boot order, time, date and set a bios password, I don't think I had anything else I can do. It just tells me that I have a 3.0GHz Proccsor, I don't even thing it had the (w/HT) next to it

    Did it say two processors? It should have, if you have hyperthreading. The hyperthreading can cut performance in single-threaded applications.

    GPU cooling (100°C->75°C)* Inspiron 8600 * 1.8ghz Pentium M * 128 MB Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo (337/242 -> 400/300) * 2x256 MB DDR2700 SDRAM * Aquamark 3: 24058 * 3DMark'03: 3404 * 3DMark'01 SE: 13120

    If you have an overclocking utility for your video card, use it. Your scores will increase dramatically. I don't know about Nvidias mobile solutions, but I know for a fact that the ATIs ship with the GPU clock set well below their maximum speeds. The memory clocks can also be tweaked, but not by nearly as much.

    I don't want to overclock the GPU sense I can't check its temp's at least so far I haven't been able to.

    hit start, help, and type in device manager. Find the topic to open up the device manager, and look under processors. It should have two identical ones listed. That means you have hyperthreading.
    The RAM is probably cutting your speed. Upgrade to 1gb when you get the chance.
