    Hey

I'm running a dell inspiron 1520 with the specs:
    Intel Core Duo T5450 @ 1.67ghz
    2.50 gb RAM
32 bit operating system - vista home
    8600m gt 256mb video card

Anyways, I was wondering if I was using all my ram when gaming. I went to my desktop right click --> personalization --> display settings --> advanced settings and noticed:

    Total Avaible Graphics Memory: 1279MB
    Dedicated Video Memory: 256MB
    System Video Memory: 0MB
    Shared System Memory: 1023MB

And when I bring up my task management and go to performance I have:

    Total: 2557
    Cached: 1718
    Free: 33

So my question is once again, when I am playing games am I using all of my RAM? Or is there a way I can set it up so I can use all of it. I have looked on the web and found a way to "activiate" all my ram and have done that aswell.

    Thanks.

umm... you can't make a game use more memory than it needs. its designed to use a certain amount and that is it. if you have enough, it will use all that it needs. it doesn't really make sense to think in terms of forcing the game to use more memory.

i can only live in one house at a time. you can give me 5 houses if you want, but im going to have to leave one to go into another.

so having a sufficient amount of ram available is important. it's not your job to tell the game to use it. that is the programmer's job. if you don't have as much ram available for the system and for the application as you need, then you run into issues.

But 16GB of ram isn't going to make crysis any faster than 4.

This is something that happens automatically, adjusting it will probably cause harm. Don't think about it, just enjoy the game.
