Is it true that if you have X amount of RAM for example, I ordered a system with Dual 980 Ti GPUs, so that's like 6 GB of RAM per card......... is it true that if they are in SLI that doesn't mean that I have 2 x 6 GB and it's still only 6 GB?

If that is true, so SLI helps in processing of frames only and doesn't share the RAM across both both cards? That's a shame if my understanding is true.......

As I saw from most benchmarks the GeForce Titan X only gets like 2 FPS in almost every game more than the GeForce 980 Ti so the price premium of the Titan X is not worth it.....

just making sure that I made the correct choice for my setup by going Dual 980 TIs instead of Dual Titan X

PS: I am only interested in 2x SLI setups I'd never go single GPU setup after having owned more than 3 systems all with SLI setups

Either your Google-fu is weak or you didn't learn a lick from the last SLI systems you owned...

To be honest I'm surprised you didn't know VRAM doesn't stack after shelling out for a few SLI setups. What's up with that? lol :p
GPU wise 980ti is a savvy choice over the Titan X.

we're always in a learning process. But yeah from the benchmarks even though it has twice as more RAM, doesn't seem to be a good bang for the buck vs the 980 Ti

Because it's a "Titan" and "Titan" cards are supposed to be $1000. Except that it isn't a "Titan" it's like a "985Ti" because it has no double-precision rendering block. Making it a massive waste of money.

That's what the guides are for. I only wish I could write more details, but too much is uncertain to me.

Eh some people get their jollies knowing they have a full chip instead of one that's been neutered. Also early access.

That's true... but it still ain't worth it. Also, the 980Ti has the same TDP as the Titan X despite having less memory and less cores... what'll be interesting is if the clockspeeds they can crank out of it might surpass the Titan X (as it has that pesky 300W limit)

Well I've asked for my new system to be overclocked from Origin PC for both CPU and GPU so let's see when it arrives next month how it benchmarks

There's fun in that? They've built for you, overclocked for you. Kinda lame if you ask me...

Each to their own I guess.. Although I do agree that the fun part about putting together a new system is the tweaking, discovery and personal touches . They're never going to tune how I'd want it.

How much extra did the "head start" cost?

Yes, the frame buffer is mirrored on both GPUs, so you are only able to utilize half the VRAM. However, this might change with DX12.
