    Hello,
I bought 2GB of RAM for my notebook DELL XPS m1530. Previously I had 2x 1GB. SO I insert 2GB next to 1GB(3GB total), and when I run any game, after 5 minutes of stress to the notebook, my screen flashes few times and the game starts lagging like hell. I have to do restart to stop it, but then again after 5 minutes i face it again. Frequency and everything matches the 1GB I have. Any graphic drivers doesnt help.
However, in my friends notebook they run greatly!
    Any ideas?

Tried going into the BIOS and choosing long POST? The one where it counts all your RAM
Been a while since I looked in there so cant remember where it is :(

This might sound dull...but did you try swapping them in the slots? You never know. The obvious things often kill us ;).

It sounds like the laptop is downclocking the GPU, It is quite a common problem with this notebook,
Use rivatuners Hardware monitoring tool to see what your current GPU clocks are and then try the game again whilst leaving the monitoring page open in the background, If it downclocks again you will see the massive drop in GPU frequency in Rivatuner.

It used to happen with my M1530 due to certain drivers and too high an overclock, I did sort it in the end by downflashing my BIOS to A08 and using 175 drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

I dont think it is the memory causing you trouble. To be sure try running the DELL diagnostics by pressing F12 at the bios, or using one of the cds that came with it that has it installed

Have you tried running MemTest86+ to see whether there are errors?

The easiest way should be to remove the stick and see if the problem goes away.

If it does, it's the RAM or the RAM slot, if not, it's something else.

Thats a graphics driver recover situation...

Are you sure that the module that you have bought has the same operation frequency and the same memory timings of the old modules?

With the new RAM installed, tried running Vista's Memory tester ?
Also run Orthos > Blend test to stress the RAM in windows., or in Custom > Min=2048K and Max=3072K and uncheck "Run FFTs in-place".

Yes there is. I think the option to run the memory tester is available in the System Recovery Options.

I would just return the RAM and use the warranty.

It is a safety precaution of the card. It has nothing to do with RIVA tuner. It is similar to CPU throttling.

So I brought these RAM modules to warranty, after 3 weeks they returned to me and they said that they perform well....Recommended me to bring my notebook,as it might be my notebook's problem, so what? "OHHH yes...YOUR COMPUTER IS BAD, wanna buy new one?"

So, if they work just fine, why not send you new RAMS and put those back in a shop?? They are looking at cheap change now?
