As it says, I just wanna know how others think about them![]()
So basically all you have to do is vote for the company that you favor, and state why you do, also if you have any criticism for the company that you voted for
I'll start,
For me, I see ATi is better, cuz I feel like ATi delivers good performance at a reasonable price, not a rip-off![]()
Criticism: I would like to see ATi improving their website and making it more informative about their cards, and not having to go to NBCheck to know about the cards.
EDIT: also ATi has support to to other features like OpenCL, and coming soon the DX11, so i think they'll be ahead of the game![]()

Nvidia...because it has mobile driver support.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Nvidia... Almost every game is tailored for it, PsyX support, and computer chips shouldn't be RED!!!!
lol
-
My vote goes to Nvidia.
Both of them actually are very good.
ATI low-ended GPUs is better than Nvidia low-ended GPU.
ATI is cheaper than Nvidia after all.
If your budget is limited, ATI is your best friend.
However, my vote still on Nvidia XD!
Actually, EVGA is the BEST! EVGA base is from Nvidia. -
ATI:
- Monthly official drivers
- Better GPU technology
- Better video/DVD support/playback
Clarification: I prefer ATI for my desktop cards and that's what I'll buy. For notebooks it doesn't really matter to me. -
hmm the age old ? is out again. I prefer nvidia but i have no brand loyalty. I will buy ati in the desktop cards. But i will say nvidia has the mobile area for me. and i have had mobile ati cards.(integrated x200 and x1270)
-
NVIDIA's brainwashing.....
that's why I said that ATi needs better advertisements and better website -
nVidia because of CUDA
-
I don't have a preference, I take whatever is the best option. For now, Nvidia still has a grip on the title, but Ati is pulling at their arm and has the other hand reaching for it
-
I pick ATI, better bluray and HD support, they use newer tech, they have everything first like direct3d 10.1, 40nm, GDDR5...
But I also like nvidia! both are SUPERB brands.
-
Nvidia because I have never had a problem with them and drivers work.
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Yeah! Go Intel! I love how smoothly the X3100 can run Space Pinball.
My vote goes to Nvidia. -
If we're talking laptops, then Nvidia without a doubt. SUCH a large enthusiast community. ATI... not so much.
-
No preference for me. ATI has been making some fantastic cards the last few years, and we have them to thank for the low prices of video cards. If it wasn't for them, NVidia would still be charging us premium price for video cards.
-
For notebooks, id have to take Nvidia, they support their mobile GPU's which means they support their customers....if its desktop, i dont have a preference and would choose from what i required out of a card not its name.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
nvidia owns notebooks, period. they actually release drivers for their own product *gasp*.
in desktopland, they each stand on their own. my last desktop purchase was ATI, my next might be ATI. It might be Nvidia. Whichever makes the dollar go further the week I want to buy. -
Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
Nvidia. But the step to GDDR5 by ATI made me think twice.
-
Nvidia stepped into DDR5 as well
ATI due to the driver support and Cheap prices -
I preferred ATI. ATI is better cost/performance. ATI has better tech than nVidia but nVidia own more reputations.
-
After owning nVidia my whole life, I finally have ordered an HD 4650 for this laptop...I guess that makes me a Radeon man...but honestly, I'm as fickle as the wind when it comes to manufacturers. If you have better for cheaper, I'm there.
-
I have ATI cards in one of my laptops and nvidia in my desktop.
I like nvidias support a little more, but ATI is catching up quickly -
Whoever has the best performance.
-
Nvidia. My laptop is outstanding and the 9800 GTS 1 GIG DDR3 has been the heart of that rocking performance.
-
Both, my first nvidia was a 5200fx, i was really happy with that card, played the games at the time (it was a mid ranger) and played battlefield 2 when drivers were all sorted out hehe.
The next was a 7600go, ive had that for 4 or 5 years, it still plays some of the latest games and refuses to dieit just wont, even when overclocked beyond sensible limits, i love that card.
My latest card is the HD4850, its a tank alright, pushes through all the latest games with its hands behind his back, heck even ran through the whole crysis demo on the highest settings without so much as a stutter.
Im a fan of both brands, why? Both reliable, affordable and perform admirably. -
I really like both brands, but I lean for ATi because I have used it for almost always.
-
I prefer ATi over nVidia.. I have a 4850 and it eats anything I throw at it. I have owned nVidia in the past and I think there great too.. I still prefer ATi.
-
-
I was doing some grocery shopping today (yes a gamer has to eat too!) and I saw this on the magazine rack.
I have now avowed to buy only ATI products because of this. -
Rayman the great escape and homeworld catacylsm ftw with that baby
5200fx wasnt bad though, and it has a nice overclock -

LOOOL Benchmarks.... We also know ATI has inflated benchmark scores... but in Real Gaming and 3D applications Nvidia is the winner... Anyway both make great great cards more than needed to handle most games and such, I'm jsut saying that's all included in which is better... Nvidia has a larger profit margin, so they can do alot of extra stuff with it... New technologies, exclusive rights like PsyX etc.

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
what we all *should know* is that neither ATI nor Nvidia has any real lead in the desktop GPU market. Both are neck to neck in competition in price / performance.
-
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
what are you talking about?
i totally missed your logic there. -
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
-
Thanks, MrBB. That's exactly it.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
I am often misunderstood as well
lol
-
i voted for nvidia because thats all ive ever used, but im planning on building a desktop with ati gpu's.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
why did he quote me and add a condition that i had already put in place?
*still so confused* -
Nvidia is the way to go!
-
ATI. Because I'm tired of having a Nvidia card.
-
and in the desktop market, Ati will have the lead soon, NVIDIA is going slow... -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
unfortunately the graphics market is not as simple as taking one sides theoretical best performer and putting it up against the other one. even if what you say about 2x4870s beating 2x gtx 280s, it's almost a moot point (although i am sure many people are going to argue that point with you).
availability, mainstream, mobile driver support. these are the important things in the notebook market. -
My vote goes straight to NVIDIA, I have used NVIDIA Graphics Cards ever since the times of the RIVA TNT, and they have never let me down; Mainly, I use High-End parts in my computers, and ATI just won't make the cut to fit in my standards.
ATI is really good on the Budget - Medium-High market, though, the price x performance ratio is really good, while NVIDIA is lacking on that field of the market.
However, now that GT300 is just around the corner, ATI has nothing to fight NVIDIA with, mainly because GT300 is supossedly x2 (even x3) times more powerful than GT200 (GT200 was a Test-Tube for a new architecture, sort of), and not even the 4890 X2 is up to the power of the GTX 295, so, imagine what a GTX 395 would be capable of...
---
GT300 will sport a 512-Bit Memory Bus on GDDR5 Memory, will sport Clock Speeds x2 or x3 times higher than GT200, around x3 times more Shader Processors (Actual Processors, not just Logical), will sport much better support for CUDA, will support DirectX 11 out of the box and, it will be a CGPU, basically, along with much more improvements over GT200.

Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
Nvidia simply because the support notebook gpu`s , without mobility modder ATI user would be stuck with STOCK drivers.
I think there is very little difference between ATI and NVIDIA in performance terms.
Though i am upset about the way NVIDIA has handled the faulty GPU fiasco. -
Im fine with what ATI provides for drivers, yes there slow, but heck, atleast the cards are based off there desktop counter parts
And even stock perform admirably for meeeeeee. -
Right now, I prefer ATI. They've got some very good value cards out there (desktop 4770 probably being the best), and it's a good/worthwhile way of supporting AMD without supporting AMD processors. That is, I don't want AMD to go the way of the dinosaur, but their mobile processors have been so pitiful compared to Intel lately that I really couldn't see myself buying an AMD mobile processor in any situation.
The other factor is the way nVIDIA handled the overheating situation. I'd rather trust ATI that their products are working correctly after that. Sure, nVIDIA says their GT 200 series isn't faulty, but they said the same about the 8/9 series, too (and some say even the 7 series was faulty). And sure, my 8600M GT is working fine, but that doesn't make how they handled the situation right.
So, if I were to buy a laptop today, I'd give ATI-based laptops extra-strong consideration, particularly 3850/3870/4650/4850, although since so many more laptops are nVIDIA-based, and a good number of ATI ones sport AMD processors, I can't guarantee I'd buy ATI. If I were buying a desktop, I'd almost certainly buy ATI. No reason not to when I can get a 4770 for $99 or a 4890 for $199.
RATE THE BEST !! NV OR ATi
