I like both, though I'm a bit more for ATi right now to be honest. They've come out with some great new products at good prices lately. When I build a desktop, I'm definetly going ATi instead of Nvidia like last time. If I get another laptop instead, I'll probably go ATi as well. Kinda want a nice, portable machine with decent mobile graphics, and the ATi 4570 seems to be right up my alley with all the really good portable machines with them at good prices.

Did ATI ever fix the problem with reduce performance when anti-aliasing is enabled.

As far as which one I prefer ...
I would have to say ATI at this point in time is better despite the fact I use Nvidia.
ATI uses newer technologies and is much more consistent in their mobile gpu naming scheme compared to Nvidia (which ends up confusing those less tech savvy) ... and of course, ATI has not been associated with the gpu issues that Nvidia experienced, plus is cheaper in comparison. -
I've owned both ATi & NVIDIA GPU based notebooks. But I voted for ATi.
I first started monitoring the mobile GPU market back in early 2004, before AMD bought ATi. That was back in the day when ATi released a state of the art mobile GPU a few months after the desktop counterpart, which was the Mobility Radeon 9700 Pro (9600XT based).
When AMD bought ATi, a lot of restructuring took place that led to delays in ATi's product offerings. That is why NVIDIA rehashed and re-badged their massive GeForce 8 & 9 series inventory until the came out with a new design, the 10th Generation or GeForce 200 Series.
ATi finally emerged with a product capable enough to compete with NVIDIA's offerings this only year, the Radeon HD 4000 series.
I voted for ATi because they are technically advanced and they are trustworthy(NVIDIA flat out lied and or misled the public about their GPU bump problems). -
ATI for sure!!
Better drivers , better features.. and lastest issues by Nvidia tottaly arruined the brand... thats my opinion!!

i went with nvidia because out of sheer coincidence, i have never had an ati card in my life. Geforce 4 mx, geforce 6600, 9600m gt. personally, in canada, the price range of about $1000 for laptops has always seen the nvidia cards outperforming similarly priced laptops having ati cards. eg, my 9600m gt and an ati 2600 and the dells with their 3450s and 3650s
-
No preference, although I lean more towards ATi now because of the nvidia faulty chip issues over the past year or so.
-
I honestly have no preference either. I just buy whatever offers me the best for my budget at the time I'm buying. In terms of product quality and all the jazz, I've never noticed anything significantly better/worse from either company which would make me veer completely to the other side.

i think ati is better now. I got a 500w psu for free with my case. And i tried to push 9800gtx then 8800gtx and 500w psu is not enough power for those nvidia cards. Then i trade them for ati hd4850 and it's running perfectly. Sorry for my crappy english.

Not that I prefer NV, it just seems that every computer I buy comes with NV, so just used to them, their control panel etc etc.
-
i voted nvidia though i like ATI a bit better.
Nvidia = better gaming
ATI = better benchmarking -
ATI With Intel. Why? Switchable graphics, of course!
-
Nvidia since there is much better driver support
-
ATI for me.
1)Newer Tech
2)No naming schemes like Nvidia and the GTX 280M being an overclocked 9800M GTX
3)I have had ATI all my life anyway.(1st desktop X600, 2nd Desktop X700 PRo, 1st Laptop Xpress 1150, current laptop Mobility X700, next laptop will have mobility 4870s)
4)Better price for perofrmance(How do you think the W90vp is so cheap?ATI cards of course)
5)Not rehashing old tech. -
I used to be nVidia, however after learning a few things I am ATi. For starters, ATi cards are very well priced. However, the key reason for me is that ATi doesn't cut corners, whereas nVidia does. They rebrand a lot of their cards. A 9800GT (desktop) is just an 8800GT, with a few die shrunk versions and 1GB versions. The 280M? A desktop 8800GTS, die shrunk. The 280M wasn't based in any way, shape or form with the desktop 280-the only thing it shares with the desktop version is the name.
Whereas when it comes to ATi, a mobility 4870 IS a mobile version of the 4870. They don't rebrand cards unlike their competitor. -
Depends on what type of computer I'm after. I don't really have a preference of one over the other, I'll just get whatever best fits my needs.
RATE THE BEST !! NV OR ATi
