I opened the forums and couldnt find the stickies!
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
caught me out aswell ^^

Well, the number of the posts eligible to become stickies finally passed 4 which was supposed to be the limit. So keeping the first 4 as stickies and not making the fifth a sticky was not justice.
Plus browsing the forums with a single sticky is much easier.
I have no objection whatsoever
I hope someone does this for the ASUS forum because the 7 stickies are driving me mad. -
I think it's easier to find the relevant threads now. No one ever really looks at stickies, especially not if there are more than 3 of them. This way, you have one place to look if you need information about graphics/games/performance
(Ok, so I'm biased cos I suggested making this change... But I still think it's a good idea)
-
Having a centralised information page is a great idea to save time on browsing in a related topic. I haven't thougth about this idea though.

I'd be willing to take any suggestions for minor links to go into this sticky. I'll be adding a few I have in mind later on today. -
Good luck getting people to read them
*Looks at latest new thread*
Maybe you should add repetitive questions will be deleted. That'll scare them
Maybe the X1600vs7600 thread? Or Go7400 pictures thread? -

Im looking for a laptop that can handle games to an ok standard. Im not looking to be bale to play the top end modern games that are being released but im looking to play games like Battlefield 2 to a good standard of gameplay. A laptop i have looked at has this graphics card in: nVidia® GeForce Go 8400M GS with 128MB DDR2 dedicated graphic memory. Will this be able to handle the games i mentioned. The laptop also has 1gb RAM, Intel core 2 duo processor.
A list of games this setup could handle would be appreciated. -
oops didnt mean to post here

people might actually look at this thread if its in dark blue, which makes it more visible, rather than light blue, which makes it impossible to see, I couldn't even see it.

And, if possible, Larger text. So that it jumps out. If you can change the text colour to Red.

You need to use the modified .inf file. There are simple instructions on the website.
-
the website is not working are there any others ? or poss a link that works
thanks -
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
If the laptopvideo2go site is not working, give it a few hours. It goes down occasionally.

Thank you Xander for your post and link, we need to know exacly where to download a working driver for my geforce go 6600 card, as i have tryed to install 1 from the nvidia site and 1 from Tweakforce.com and even after replasing the 6600 inf file they will not install. i cant seem to find a driver that says its compatable with GO for a laptop, sorry ive never done this b4 , thanks for all your help.
-
-
This would probably be best posted in the drivers thread, however, you can try the following driver:
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/169.09/169.09_forceware_winxp_32bit_english_beta.exe
Open the .exe, and have it extract the files to some folder on your desktop. The setup will fail, but that's okay. After it's exited, go into the folder with the extracted files, delete the file called "nv4_disp.inf." Then, download and extract the attached file, and cut and paste the INF file into your extracted driver folder (where you deleted the old INF file).
After that, you should be good to go.Attached Files:

If there's anything you think I should add or remove from this sticky, please let me know and I will be happy to take your recommendations into consideration. That applies to everybody.

Now that you mention it, Pulp's 6150 guide is getting a bit dated, I'm not sure new computers are offered anymore with that GPU. Several of the other threads regarding DX9.0c cards could be considered being removed in the near future as well.
-
Why not put Pulp's 7150 review in place of the current 6150 thread?
-
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
Thanks guys, I made that change with the 7150M article. I will also be getting rid of some of the older articles.

Hi
Im in the market for a new laptop. I came across a dilema. Im debating about either the sony fz or the dell m1530. the sony has a 8400m GT graphics card and the dell has a 8600M GT graphics card. Which one is better?
I will be playing games like crysis and COD4
Thank you all of you answers will be appreciated -
For cyrsis and COD4 8600Gt will be the best but I do not think that the 8600GT will even run Cyrsis.
-
8600gt can run crysis on medium settings from what i have read
-
Nah, both can run crysis even if it has to be on low for the 8400M GT. My 8400M GS can go all medium at 852x480.
-
Still you want to play while it is going 7 fps?

You have to take into consideration what people's definition of playable is. To me 15fps is not playable. For to make Crysis "playable" that is a no dips below 30 and hovering around 45fps most of the time, I have to play at the lowest resolution and everything on medium.
The 8400GT could probably get decent fps in Crysis at the lowest resolution with the lowest settings. I may be wrong, but playing a game anywhere below 20 isn't playable in my book -
Slightly O/C'd 8600m GT here - runs Crysis with all on high, shadows on medium, shaders on low. Avg 32 FPS. Game is very playable in every respect so far.
-
1280x720, 30+ FPS most of the game except the end at medium settings (with performance tweaks and O/C). Realize that the game is still playable(20-30 FPS) at stock speeds and all medium settings at 1024x768. Go with the 8600m gt. as for COD4, I max it out and run it at 1280x800. it has no problem running at above 30 FPS nearly the entire game.

billydakid118, I merged your thread with the general index sticky so you can see how much information is in it. Please look for stickies before you post . . . most general questions can be answered by looking in them and doing a bit of searching.
-
lol i got so used to the integrated that i can even play with 15 fps XD
-
Is there an Nvidia overclocking tutorial sticky somewhere?
To be more specific, I thought I saw one that showed how to configure your fans as well, but I can't find it.
