well I'm looking for a cool rpg and I guess you guys must know what could be perfect for me :D what I like in rpgs is mostly skill learning, and stat improving (attackk speed, attack power, hp, etc.) and if they have several types of character (races, professions, skills) so you can play the same game several times but still see new stuff. I don't care if its not very new as long as it has a good story and/or is a long game (but it will be best if it was graphically attractive :D) . Here I will put some examples of rpgs Ive played and what I liked about them and what not. :)

Star wars Kotor: loved skill learning, story and having a party helping you.

Oblivion: I like the fact that you could choose your race, improve your stats as you level up and customize your armor (put sets or different parts of armor and see them in your character) but didnt like the fact that it was more like fps and a hit and block game.

Fallout 3: vats, it added some kind of rpg style missing some shots and making criticals sometimes

Lineage 2: yeah I know this is a mmorpg, but loved the way it had several races and that each race had a lot of unique skills, stat improving, armor sets and huge world, but hated grinding.

I also have the witcher but have not been able to get too much into it, the controls and gameplay is kinda awkward for me

    Edit:
Mass effect: Liked the story and some stats improving but felt it was more like a shooter than rpg

    thanks in advance guys :)

whoops sorry I played that one, story was good, but other than that I felt it was more like a third person shooter :/

Ditto. It's a little more run and gun then you might like however, it's one of them most polished and deep RPG's I've played. Your actions play a huge role in gameplay, more then any other RPG IMO.

newer games? I like Neverwinter Nights 2.... and 1... as well as the baulders gate series... and icewind dale... all good RPGs. Still play old school ones too, mostly DOS based ones in DOSbox. Good old fun stuff like Might and Magic 1 - 9 (not "Heroes of")... Wizardry... etc...

Dont overlook Morrowind it holds up quite well graphics wise and i think its story and length is pure class, you want something alittle more fast paced then the witcher or either titanquest or sacred 2 fallen angel are action RPG's and more along the lines of diablo2.
agree with nwn 1 or 2 and of course fallout 3 is very good as well.....

Drakensang..solid rpg game. One aspect I like about it is the old-school turn-based approach to combat..like in the old Fallout series. And the graphics ain't too shabby.

Since you played Fallout 3 you should see about getting fallout 1 or 2. Pretty old games (Late 90's) but still very fun.

If you want a genuine RPG and not these FPS wanna be games check out The Last Remnant, its new I have not really played it much yet just the demo but its a "real" rpg.

Games that are not so new but I know are good from playing. Phantasy Star Universe is a great 1 player RPG, and if you want to after beating the game it can be a MMO and you can go online to play.

Or even Gothic 1 , 2 and 3 ? The ideal time-wasters, great story many ways to finish up, not so demanding except G3.

Another vote for the Witcher, once you get the timing for combat right the game starts getting interesting with the decisions you're forced to make and the very imperfect outcomes that comes from a world where decisions and consequences rule over morality.

that game sounds great the only problem is that im looking for a single player rpg :/ If eve was like that ill totally buy it.

About the witcher, well I already have it, but havent got much time to get a lot into it so its kinda hard to play for me right now (it gets me confused)

Im checking out right now drakensang and neverwinter nights 2 (from the videos Ive seen they look like what Im looking for), but I read somewhere that drakensang is exactly the same as nwn2 is that true? if so, which one is better?

The graphics and the combat looks amazing, but I dont like too much the turn based gameplay :(

G3 looks cool but kinda reminds me to oblivion, is it really similar to it or is it more like an rpg than a click and block game?

    thanks for everything

Drakensang and NWN2 have lots of similarities, but they use different iterations of pen and paper rulesets, The Dark Eye and D&D. Both basically do what you wanted, which is build on skill sets as you acquire experience. You can focus on a single style or somewhat multi-class. I grew up with D&D, so NWN2 was more intuitive, but once you get the hang of Drakensang rules, it is pretty cool.

Both games are party based, and you "recruit" more followers as you play through the game, but are limited (3, I think) to how many at any one time. Otherwise, the others stay in a convenient location for you to switch out when you want.

The combat is real time/turn based for both...you can play through or pause to give party members directions, etc.

Drakensang is pretty challenging compared to NWN2, both during combat and figuring out the rules and benefits of character classes. I think this would be true even if I had never experienced D&D.

NWN2 has a toolset and both developer supported and community mods, so the replayability is literally unending. Drakensang doesn't have this feature, but there are currently 2 new Dark Eye games in development, one is a prequel to Drakensang.

I thoroughly enjoyed both games, and play them both regularly. You might also try some older games such as NWN, Baldur's Gate series, Planescape series, Divine Divinty, stuff like that. Also, Dragon Age:Origins is coming in October, and Divinity 2: Ego Draconis is supposed to be out in September.

I was like you with the Witcher at first, but after I got the hang of it and got past a certain point a few times, it really kept my attention. An awesome game IMO. Hope this helps... :)

Another vote for The Witcher, bud. The best choice for a modern PC RPG so far!

Mass Effect would also be a completely different style to that yet would also get a thumbs up.

And this. The strong jokes (practically missing from the 3rd IMO) and cadillac make it worth while even if it's strictly turn based when the s**t hits the fan.

I'm sure everyone's played this. It's PC available but is best on the PSX. Still it's been voted 2nd place in at least two 'best game ever' contests over the last month so it can't be all that bad.

Fixed for you. The first Fable was a disppointment. Mr. Molyneux promised an evolutionary RPG and delivered a run-of-the-mill fantasy game at best.
