I am buying a new notebook and am looking forward to be able to play PC games again after many years of not doing so. I'm a long-time gamer, having long enjoyed card and board games, as well as old-fashioned tabletop role playing games. When I still played PC games several years back, one of my favorites was the original Neverwinter Nights - not so much for the single-player campaign as for the community that arose around the online play of player-designed content, as well as the fact that it used the Dungeons & Dragons rules and content, which were already familiar to me.

Now that I am coming back to the world of computer gaming, I am hoping that there is a more updated version of this type of game, either on the market or in development. My friends are already playing WoW and WAR, so I'm sure I'll play one of those, but I also know most MMORPG's aren't going to satisfy much more than a desire to kill stuff and grind through levels. I still want lots of action, but I also want some actual role-playing, some player interaction, problem-solving, and characters that are more than just the sum of their combat abilities. It may be a long shot, but hope springs eternal. If anyone has suggestions, I would be very appreciative!

There is, of course, NWN2 out there ... but your best bet in my opinion is to go and download modules the NWN1 and NWN2 communities crank out ... some of them are quite good and have oodles of the RP factor. ;)

I actually sold my NWN discs a couple years ago when my old desktop couldn't really keep up with the expansion content anymore. I knew NWN 2 was out there, but wondered if it was any good, or was any relevant after, what, 2+ years? It is pretty interesting if people are still playing either, especially the original, after this long.

Well i host a D&D game on sundays that your welcome to join... though its a bit far from Washington :p

There are still quite a few people that play NWN1 + expansions, and NWN2 + expansions.

The community has made ALOT of really good modules and some have went all out and remade some of the original D&D modules just for people to play.

If you've sold your discs no worries, go pick up the Diamond Pack. It has ALL of the NWN1 adventures and some 4 hour mini modules all in one nice package for like 30 bucks.

NWN2 Gold has both of the newest games in it for the price of just the first one.

All in all i have gotten 100+ hours of enjoyment out of my 80 dollars i spent for all of them.

    Very much worth it
