    Merry christmas everyone!
I have been following some posts in these forums and just wanted to post somthing alot of people on most forums dont know.
    No flaming!

Well im sure you guys are smart enough to figure out what this means...

    http://talkback.zdnet.com/5208-12558-0.html?forumID=1&threadID=48909&messageID=915943&start=-9978

    #1. PS3 RSX alone = 1.8 TFLOPS
Cell and RSX = equal over 2TFLOPS

    #2. I will explain:
RSX = "Multi-way Programmable Parallel Floating Point Shader Pipelines". Now no other device uses this description, but if you were a student of Graphics Cards, you would realize that this was basically describing multiple pathways through a grid or array of Shader processors.

#3. So it's not a "Fixed Function Pipeline" of G70 with 24-Vertex Shaders and 8-Pixel Shaders. This describes a Unified Shader Architecture!

#4. Supports full 128bit HDR Lighting. Same as G80's and G70 only supports 64bit HDR like all last gen GPU's. Dead give away!

#5. From as early as Feb 2005 at GDC Sony has announced that PS3 (RSX) would use OpenGL ES 2.0. At the time 2.0 wasn't out, so they wrote feature supports of RSX into OGL ES 1.1 including Fully Programmable Shader Pipeline and call it PSGL. Khronos Group took anything that could be done in a Shader out of the Fixed Function Pipeline (including Transform and Lighting) streamlining it for future Embedded Hardware. What does that mean?

#6. At least for OpenGL ES 2.0 devices (not PC version) it becomes a unified shader model and remember RSX is fully compliant. OpenGL ES 2.0 will only run on advanced hardware just like DX10.

In fact your next Cell Phone or PSP Phone will run on OpenGL ES 2.0 with GPU's like PowerVR SGX = 720P capable for Blue Tooth display to HDTV. Unified Shaders, Shader4.0, and with OpenKode support Play DX10 games!!! So if PS3's RSX can run the same API, it's NOT a G70 and no way will anything but a mainframe out power a PS3

OpenGL ES 2.0 Cell Phone interface prototype of the Future!

PS3 is the only true next generation! supercomputer gaming 2009 and beyond PLAY BEYOND!

Why should we care? The PS3's hardware is lacking in other areas, the biggest of which is RAM.

And no the PS3 is not a supercomputer.

This ofcourse is not true at all...

yes Beryl and OpenGL taking the Desktop beyond mere 3d aided Vista
Desktop into the Future of the OpenGL Fully Accelerated Desktops.
Who needs vista with worhtless processes to slow you down?

Beryl and OpenGL use the vectoring approach to graphics display. Hence NO polygons! Equals instant zoom without disturbingly pixelated images. Resource handling capabilities increase in applications is incredible!

As my link at the top of this page states Alias free and Resolution free! VECTORED GRAPHICS! NO AA

They have all the memory they need for gaming! So please dont give me " oh its held back by the ram"
Do you have ram in your PC that runs at 3.2gz? i dont think so.

I mean only very few, and i do mean very few understand!
Im just sick of reading forums with people, who are fanboys of pc and xbox and have no knowledge of a systems capabilities!

I have a pc with a 9800 and an xbox360, but you have no idea whats actually around the corner with Ps3!

    Killzone 2
    Wardevil
    Heavy rain
    GOW3
    Uncharted 2

The pc and xbox have nothing on them, and this is just the begging....

I think people need to give ps3 more credit it can still do many things though you are accomplishing much by posting this on a notebook forum enjoy your exclusives like Little Big Planet, Uncharted, Ratchet, Resistance, and Metal Gear Solid

I'll enjoy my PC exclusives WoW, Starcraft, Warhammer, STALKER, Crysis, Company of Heroes, and World in conflict

Basically its a win win for all :D

Stop with the flames. If you're here for the +1 GTFO.

The PS3 is just being held back right now as it was released a year later then the xbox, and game developers don't really know how to tap into its true power. I expect God of War 3 to show off the PS3s abilities

Just because the system is capable of pumping out 2 TeraFLOPS doesn't mean anyone will EVER see that kind of actual processing. An AMD 4870X2 can top 2 TeraFLOPS, and will probably end up pumping out more actual DATA because more people can actually program using Brook+ than Cell, which is an insult to Cell. Once DirectX 11 and OpenCL become mainstream, you can say bye bye to the Cell architecture and hello to Nvidia and AMD breaking down your door.

That said, I wish I had a PS3 because Resistance looks like a really cool game.

Thread closed as trolling and flamewars are against the forum rules. FYI, this is a notebook forum...
